David, Just a hint for you, when you start, use a fishing tackle box when you strip it down, it keeps everything in the one place. Also, be sure to photograh the carby in situ before you take it out, especially all the hoses, etc. Cheers and good luck Stuart Thanks for that, I thought there'd be ext...

Do you have one of those interfence busters for ignition coil to prevent normal radio interference, wonder if a newie would help and/or one connected into the drivng lights power circuit? Hey, just checked and nothing there, perhaps that would be a good place to start, thanks to you all for the inp...

Webers are a pretty good carby so they don't really come dead cheap. I think I paid around $400 for mine NIB with an adaptor plate. Electric choke was more of a headache then a benefit, so it got taken off (just let her warm up before tromping it ;) ). Worth every penny. I took mine off recently an...

Yep, I do international searches, I thought perhaps there might have been a local secondhand one out there.

Cheers and thanks tho.

US Brat motor in Aus brumby

I was just looking thru the ebay website and noticed that the US Brats had engines from 1800 - 2000 - 2200 - 2500. Does anyone know if these are interchangeable with our Brumbys. I would expect that they would be close to a simple drop in......... maybe that is just wishful thinking!!!:D

Gigi, I did a rebuild on my Hitachi just recently, still didn't fix it. I couldn't get the main jets out. Think that is still the problem as it coughs and splutters on acceleration.

I am actually thinking of swapping it out for a weber 32/36 carby.

Thanks guys,
I will have to check the wiring, the switch wiring runs close to the stereo.

The lights are standard Hella spotlights that I have had hanging around for 20 odd years!!!

new ignition

I have just replaced the ignition on the steering column with one I bought on ebay. Just as a word of caution, the one I bought has a stalk that is at a slightly different angle to the old one and sits differently. Now my indicators wont cancel!!! Dont know what is worse, dicky ignition or indicator...

Spot Lights affecting stereo

This has got me beat, I have recently wired up some spotties to my Brumby as per the instructions. I listen to 100.1 Curtin FM cause it has country! I notice that when I put the spotties on, the radio goes all static and the sound quality drops. High beam doesn't do it. Do I need something on my coi...

Brumby ignition replacement

I just replaced the ignition on my Brumby today. Bought a replacement on ebay for $135. I used a centre punch on the two security bolts and they popped out quite easily! I was bloody happy with that, I thought that would be the hardest. Put the new one in and bolted everything up, fortunately DID NO...

Just put another replacement headlight in. Only put one in about 16 months ago. Bloke at auto-one said could be a bad earth overheating the filament?

I cleaned up the area so I will see how it goes.

Woo Hoo !!! After I put the sloppy gear lever kit in, I then drilled out the old hole in the selector sleeve and rod. I then got a bolt with an oversized shank so that it fitted nice and tight. Bolted it all up and it goes an absolute treat now, nice and notchy and into reverse like a rat up a drain...

Well today I put in the sloppy gear lever kit from Andy. Thanks Andy although it didn't fix the problem. What I ended up doing is to drill out the hole in the shaft and put in a new bolt. It looks like I may have fixed it, will test run it tomorrow.
