A quick update, The car has run like a dream for the last three weeks. Tonight however with the fuel light on, I noticed something interesting. When stopped and idling in neutral, the car was running smoothly. Put it in Drive or Reverse - again stationary - the cheeky missing would rear it's ugly he...

Hey so this week the car has not even suggested that there could be a problem plaguing it. Not a sign at all, no stall and no miss. I have not noticed it so much with cold weather - definitely the slow stall and save with throttle blip. Gave the carbie a quick spray test, no change in revs, however ...

Thanks Silverbullet, Subydoug and Steptoe for your responses. I have a few things to check out by the sounds! If you've got a multimeter with continuity it's easy to test; I think it's one probe on negative side of coil and other on a good ground? should beep for continuity depending on points open ...

So another issue. First a quick disclaimer - which ties into the suggestions made previously - I have not converted to electronic ignition (Feeling that way inclined however) - I have replaced most of the consumable ignition system in the last 1500km (plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor, points, co...

No one seems to be sure, even the 'subaru specialist' mechanics I frequent. I ended up going wild with some exhaust putty, The exhaust from the cat back was a can of worms... little rust holes everywhere. I have heard that it is often a symptom of short drives and not getting up to operating temp, e...

Brumby Leone exhaust compatibility
Hi all,
Im curious as to whether an exhaust from the cat back off a brumby would fit a 1983 Leone wagon? Mines a little 'holy' Any ideas?
Cheers,
Gunfactory

:D Glad someone listened to me back at post #10 :) Did mechanic tell you that Kettering got his name on this sort of ignition system ? If you set the timing and points gap to spec, and somehow, wear or loose screw the points gap decreases your timing goes out retards, gets closer to TDC, performanc...

Can points come loose? I would believe it on my old dizzy; the two phillips head screws that hold the points down were nicely rounded out with barely enough left to tighten them down. Even then I never had a problem though. Yeah mechanic seemed doubtful, said he had only seen it a handfull of times...

All sorted, I now know how the hell the points work haha. Mechanic showed me how to test that there is a spark at the points as well as reseting the timing. Found out that there is an Identical red wagon (manual) getting around Wollongong, the girl who owns it has been seeing the same mechanic, he s...

Looks like the fluid is coming out of the throttle shaft, both main and secondary. May be time for a carby rebuild? I had mine fully rebuilt and tuned by a carby specialist and really wished I'd done it years before hand. Hmmm Think this could lead to a stalling problem haha, I feel like it happens...

Send me a PM with your asking price Doug, Is it a big improvement with the webber?Subydoug wrote:If your interested, il be selling my weber in maybe a few weeks. You should just be able to bolt it up and go. Your stock carby looks considerably better then mine did. No gutter bolts in site!

Hey, So here are some before and after shots - spray this time was 'start you bastard' rather than carbie cleaner. Looked like the liquid came from the protrusion with the red center to me, ...
