Brumby 4WD problems

i had the back of my Brumby Jacked up and on stands to fit my lift kit.. i put it in low range 4WD and 1st gear to try lock the back wheels so i could remove them.. but the back wheels would still turn freely..

i thought being in 4WD would stop them turning... or am i wrong?

the Brumby upgrade is my first ever semi complicated DIY task... building the hardtop tonneau is my first ever go at design and build of anything..

got the foam shaved down to a uniform 20mm and drew a template of the rough sloping shape to follow.. now the fun begins.. the foam is a lot denser than i expected which made it hard to cut, bring on the belt sander for the rough shape, then i'll hit it gently with a sanding block to make the finer ...

all the foam is now poured and expanded.. now to shave and shape... will post some before and after photos for you guys when i get it done ;)

poured the expanding foam today but need to get some more.. i want to have about 25mm above the frame all round, this will give me room to shave it back to a uniform 20mm at the front then slope it down and out for run off.. cut and fitted gas strut mounts, lock rods are being modified to bolt strai...

as with all first time builds, plans change to suit whats working and whats not.. i am now going to fill the lid with expanding foam, so i can shape it for run off(as suggested by Bantum) then i will glass over the top... central locking kit should arrive some time this week, so i can fit the spare ...

the old girl has been in the shed for about 2 yrs.. with 4 kids the Brumby just doesn't cut it.. lol

we have the Voyager for the daily drive.. this will be my camping car for when i go away on long weekends with the mates.. I can keep it packed and ready to go and last minute..

i'm trying not to use wood in it's construction.. the base for the glass was bits i had in the shed.. i use to fit hard lids way back when i was an accessory fitter, one brand we used was fibreglass over a securamesh core... they were light weight and rigid.. thats where i got the idea to use the mesh

i'll have a support bar sitting under the centre of the frame whilst i'm glassing so the weight will pull the perimeter down and cause the centre to stay level or high..

because of the joiners i have used in the frame, it does have a small amount of flex atm, but the glass will stiffen that..
