TAFE night courses in MIG welding won't teach you how to weld panel steel, they concentrate on structural steel (12mm down to 3mm) plate. That looks like an excellent trip, can't wait to do something like this when my car is finished :) Thanks for posting pics. Yeah it was a good trip. When my brot...

The trick with panels is low amps, stich welding. Go slow so the heat doesnt build up & cause distortion ;)
Cheers for the tip! Although I don't think my brother is going to let me have a go at welding a guard on his Brumby. He'd never let me live it down if I stuffed it up hahaha

Thats not correct, an LSD will not allow one wheel to spin freely, think of the name...Limited Slip Diff: limited slip The torque will be split between the wheels, depending on the type of LSD & its condition, as stated above. Well my brother has a brand new SR5 hilux and on the weekend we turned a...

Thanks for sharing such a great trip away! Excellent pictures too! Can't beat a good old Subaru road trip through the mountains :) The best part is seeing the expressions on people's faces 'Did that car really get through there?' Obviously they are oblivious to the might of the mighty Subaru :D Yea...

Well the second generation L series was produced from 1979-1989. The later more squarer model was produced from 1984-1994.

No. When you a driving along with the lever engaged it is split 50/50. When you climb a steep uneven terrain hill you will find that the rear wheels act like a limited slip diff. If you get stuck in the mud, the only wheels spinning will be the ones with the least amount resistance if there is enoug...

Hey mate. From the looks of it that nudge bar would fit an L series. But it should also fit your brumby. I have seen lots of brumbys with the same bull bar/nudge bar. Wouldn't have thought that Subaru would have made 2 or 3 different bull bars at the time.

Hi Boca, From what I have found, the rear is limited slip. And the power seems to go to the wheel with the least resistance when you are stuck in the mud. I think when the lever is in place the power is split 50/50 on a brumby, well that's what it seems like when you are using it. Hope this helps. j...
