There is a rubber bushing/grommet on the dual range selector cable that deteriorates resulting in not being able to pull enough to select low range. I don't remember the exact procedure, only that it was fairly inexpensive to replace but an absolute PITA to get to with the gearbox in place. I can't ...

The gilmer belt on the back is for the Moroso electric water pump drive , this runs the factory chev water pump which will circulate fresh water and coolant from a heat exchanger. The electric drive runs off the same power feed as the distributor and fuel pump. Yes she's running the rolco/tawco styl...

Thank you everyone for your comments. I have a new rule of the workshop, when not in use the angle grinder lives on the ground. The exhaust doesn't actually go through the floor and carpet yet, those stainless bends are just sitting on the floor leaning against the manifolds. I'm still waiting on th...

Time for an update: The goal was to have her ready for Christmas. She's coming along nicely but not quite there yet due to a few set backs and supply issues. Set back 1: The of the 2 possible roller rockers I could have purchased, i got the wrong ones, 7/16 inch rockers and 3/8 inch head studs. Ord...

To Do: Engine: The "rebuilt" engine came with more pieces missing then anticipated from the rebuilder, it's basically a short block, heads and intake manifold, but it has been stored well and turns by hand with very little play. This did give me the freedom to build the engine exactly how I want, w...

To prevent too much of a thread hi-jack I thought I should start a build thread. No idea where it is sourced from but we have had surprising good results from Merbau, which is available from Bunnings in various forms from decking to sleepers. Cuts cleanly and requires very little finishing. While crook recently I played around with google images and photoshop trying to finalise ...

So after an evening of sifting through the various pieces and decoding casting numbers I have found the following: I do have an intake manifold I have a complete engine with the following history Built for fitment to 1981 Camaro - rated 130 HP at the wheels Rebadged as a Volvo Penta AQ225 and fitted...

I've grown up around chev powered ski boats, so understand the abuse the suffer and maintenance they require, but I have never done a ground up rebuild like this. We're basically talking bare fibreglass hull, a long motor sitting on a shed floor next to a pile of related pieces and I have to turn it...

Thanks fellas. The Holley is what came off the exploded 350 Chev, it had a wedge adapter to keep it level. I'm pretty sure he had a few quadrajets kicking around as well, will hit him up for one of them. Is there anything additional required to run the Mallory, like some sort of trigger when to fire...

Are there any Chev V8 guru's in the house?
I have a new toy for the collection and need some input as to the best way to build it. I'll start at the beginning (skip to the end if you don't care about the context, it's a bit of a long story): The toy is a Williams Walkabout fibreglass clinker ski boat previously owned by my brother. In action...

I think the cameria single port EFI has been used in the past on the EA81's - not hard to water proof the ECU either - fellas in the US use an ammo box :D The trick would be working out if this EFI system would be up for the task of feeding the SC enough to get away with it safely ;) Cheers Bennie ...

Major Issues The viscous coupling in the centre diff tends to go around the 150-200k mark, once this fails the centre diff is effectively locked. During a test drive find an open area and just do a low speed U turn or full circle, if it has failed you will hear and feel the wheels chirping and slip...

I have driven stinky's white EA81T Brumby a few times before he sold it. It was not an original EA81T but was well built and maintained with a few minor breathing mods. You definitely knew when boost kicked in, if you mashed your right foot it would throw you back in your seat, spin the front wheels...
