Coolant flush?

Hi all, I have a 1991 Liberty 2.2 and I have just redone the head gaskets. My question is what do you think about flushing out the cooling system? The car was running just water when we brought it and I am thinking it would be good to give it a good clean out before I put fresh coolant in. Has anyone ...

I am doing the head gaskets and getting the heads pressure tested, but I am going to give it a go without pulling the engine.
I dumped a bottle of chemie weld into it that will hopefully make it last 4 weeks until I can get into the project.
Wish me luck!!

I have already done the water pump and timing belt & pulleys and all of the leaking oil seals,so I am really only needing the gaskets for the two heads.Or whatever else I may need for the head work. I have never done this before and I am looking at doing it with the engine in the car.And YES i know ...

EJ22 head fix

Hi all, I have decided to do a head gasket job on the liberty wagon. It is leaking really badly on number 2 and 4 cylinders. My question is where do I get a gasket set for it?I have seen a kit from the states with all sorts of gaskets in it for just over $100 aussie dollars,is that a good deal?and wha...

I had another thought that I might as well do the gaskets myself. If all I need to do is replace the gaskets and get the heads machined, it my work out better in the long run seeing as how I have just replaced all the seals/timing belt/water pump and put a new clutch in it. Do you think that would be...

WTB EJ22 motor

Hi all.I have a 92 liberty wagon with a bad headgasket problem.Would anyone have a good motor lying around doing nothing in their shed?I am thinking it would be best/quickest/easiest to just shove in another motor rather than rebuilding the old one? What do you reckon??And also what would a good 2nd ...

The cap I have is new (brought from bursons)and it is the same as the old one.I will try swapping back.It doesn`t seem to be using any coolant, and I am putting the 200mls back in pretty much every day. I don`t know the difference between a non return cap and a standard cap.I assume that the shop wo...

I should have said that I have flushed out the radiator and heater core before I refilled the coolant in the car.And the temp on the gauge sits nicely in the middle with no overheating problems. But still with the coolant not returning to the radiator?

I have been getting about 200mls of coolant pretty much every time the car is driven.I have been waiting for it to cool and then transferring the coolant back. The radiator cap is new and is stamped the same as the old cap which says 0.6 or 9.0 depending on which way you look!! The manual i have say...

I have tried to bleed the system a few times. And I have got it pretty well done, but i will check the hose going into the overflow as my first step.I am hoping that it is not the head gaskets,it was a cheap car to start with but after putting in a new clutch, a belt kit & waterpump, seals etc it is st...

Hi all, I am having a problem with the sons 1991 liberty wagon.I have replaced the water pump, timing belt & rollers, thermostat and ALOT of gaskets and seals. However the coolant seems to be pressurizing somehow and it pumps out of the radiator into the expansion tank but when it cools down it doesn`t...

CV joint circlip

Hi all I am doing the outer boots on my Sons 91 fwd Liberty and I have gotten the joint apart and was wondering whether to re-use the circlip or not?
It came apart really nicely and it looks in good nick.

Cheers.
