Does it now keep the dog warm at night? Do you not have a blower in your car now? Haha good one. :). No. Dog now sleeps inside. 11 years old. It's from a previous vehicle. Not sure which one. Had a touring wagon, 2 L series and now a Foz and a Brumby. I'll go and have a look sometime.:cool...

I had a similar problem on my ute once, the clutch fork was just flapping in the breeze for 80% of it's travel loose as a goose before it actually started pushing on the clutch, and I knew the friction plate had heaps of life left in it. Can't help you though, I never got to the bottom of it before...

Yep I know it but was unsure what it actually did other than glow dangerously red in the heater fan unit. Removed it and has been sitting on the dog's house on the verandah ever since.

Thank you Toonga and Silverbullet. Firstly the touring wagon cable definitely is the same and I removed it in 5 minutes flat. If ony that speed could have continued. Silverbullet if I had read your post before I proceeded to install the cable I would have saved myself 3 HOURS. First attempt wa...

Thanks Toonga for the advise. I just checked under the dash to find someone previous had done some spot welding. Our roads must be a bit more savage or we are heavier footed then the Japanese. Then I looked under the bonnet and found the cable boot was hiding a damaged cable held on by one thread. 6...

Clutch Cable Adjustment

Finally got to take the brumby out to the river yesterday Christmas day with a couple of kayaks up on top a custom built roof rack. On the way I started having problems with gear changes and on arriving at the car-park lost them all except I managed a crunching reverse. Stuck out on the road on a be...

Clutch 2003 Forester

I am in the process of buying a 2.5 litre (X 79)? Forester from a car dealer :???:. Not sure much about them just yet but I did notice clutch pedal felt not right.

Can anybody tell me if this model is cable or hydraulic and a clutch pedal free play adjustment would help if at all cable?

I'm not sure what you mean by the "Home Forums Register Members FAQ" though, I think we're talking about different things. What's your question anyway?

Cheers

The greenish bar above under the pic of the car doesn't work for me. Is it meant to?

I found a great site for anyone interested to search out Bushes and whatnot. I'm not big on neoprene as it doesn't wear as good as old fashion rubber. I found it tends to crack in some applications such as on a Falcon's radius rod bushes I replaced years ago before I came to my senses and got into S...

Thanks to all suggestions and I will give a last go at the "mechanic in the can" taza before pulling off the oil pump. I'll get a bottle sent down on Monday from Repco.

Does that diesel oil work something like Nulon lifter free then OKsubaru?

Tappet Death rattle

I've had noisy tappets for a long time in an EA82. Googled to find out more. One suggestion was to run on 10-30 oil which I did for some time with minor improvement . I again googled with the suggestion an oil pump kit would fix the problem. Haven't yet replaced them but a neighbour friend...

I agree the EA81 is perfectly designed and almost as reliable as the EA71. The EA82 did have lots of issues but their thermostat location is the same as the EA81. I guess the temperature gauge position is a bit of dud. Being half way down the water is cooler somewhat and really does not give a true...

Rear Shock Bushes L-Series

#1. Is it possible to replace lower shock bushes. If so where do I buy them and how do you insert? As you can see I flog out :( bushes on my L series from my rough track. #2. I bought a pair of second hand shocks and as hard as I tried am  unable to raise the adjustable setting to its high...

Too true NachaLuva, It's such an uncomplicated vehicle to work on. The EA 81 engine is brilliant. The EA 82 came with all the other extra problems. Overheating because of the cooling system and thermostat location and undersized radiator core, timing belts and the oil leaks from their seals. Tasmani...

Thank you for such a warm welcome. I'll have to definitely post up some pics. The access to my property is quite something and two wheel drives were such a pain to bring in supplies and materials until I discovered Subarus. Just love the low low gear on the Brumby. I've been carrying 350-400 kg of 2...
