Brumby Torsion Suspension Replacement

Hey. Does anyone know where I can get the rear torsion suspension rod checked and replaced if necessary and also how much I'd be looking at? Going to replace the shocks and front springs as a matter of course.

Cheers

yeah, not too far from Ferntree Gully. Near Chadstone now.. and I'm going to have two weeks off soon so plenty of time for the Brumby to be out of action whilst I do a few things. :)

see, I never meant it to be a question of practicality. I was just curious how much work would need to be done. Personally I was thinking that you'd have to shave the block to increase the compression. For that, you'd need to organise pistons that had indentations in the crown to allow for valve lif...

Diesel Brumby

Just a thought I had on the way home the other night.. What would it take to make a Subaru engine accept diesel? Come on all you pocket engineers. I know it's probably not possible without a HUGE injection of funds but.. So far I've come up with the following.. You'd definitely need to strengthen th...

hey Schultzie.. might take you up on that offer in a month or so. Of course a good feed and a six pack of your fave brew would be included in the deal. I'd just have to organise a quick wheel alignment afterwards.

My 89 Brumby makes lots of what I'd describe as "tappety noises". Ever since I bought it I've been listening to other EA81 engines and they all sound the same. Speaking to a Subaru mechanic, he said it was typical of the engine. I saw an ad a while ago for a rebuild kit for the engine but buggered i...

Well, it's done. I left all the internal seals in place, packed between the spacer with (naturally) high temp bearing grease. All good and smooth and the steering wheel doesn't shimmy and shake anymore.. LOVE it. Thanks for the advice all...

Craig's Brumby and Anna's Outback

Brumby is pretty standard. I do have big wheels and a 2" lift kit but until I get some time.. they'll stay in the storage shed. It's coming up to it's 300k mark and still running strong enough. Little tappety for my liking but... The Outback is a very noice '00 Model. And I just love the power. Goin...

Sealed Bearing kit - dumb question

Hi all, Replacing the Brumby front wheel bearing kits. Have obtained the sealed variety rather than the open ball and race. I assume it's all nicely greased up inside.. but do I stick a bit of bearing grease BETWEEN the inner and outer bearing. I assume I don't need to BUT.. err on the side of cauti...
