No doubt more than I could afford! The LSD probably $400-$600 Rear discs, hubs, calipers, backing plates and brake lines probably $400+ as well provided they're the 4wd set (which I'm sure your rally car would be 4wd!). You must have some time on your hands to turn that around so quickly! Cheers Be...

I want that set of timing belt covers. They look pristine like some of the other bits on that score of a donor engine you got :) So as for performance and longevity, do you plan to provide for an intercooler or water/meth inj setup? Or will this be a by the book period rally car? J. cheers I have a...

picked up the engine!

Ok so I managed to get the weekend off work. I had planed on taking the whole weekend to pick up the engine as its 6 hours away and I didn't really have to be anywhere. until of course I got excited about the engine and woke up at 3am instead. so I managed to get up to Coffs around 10am and after 2...

Its prob nothing to worry about. If you have the time you could pull all struts out dismantle and measure spring free length and check dampers for leakage etc. But that is a pain in the proverbial. Suspension plays a big role (pun intended ) when it comes rally so anything i can do to have it at it...

More likely to be the springs causing this. And are you speaking of front or rear or overall? It only sags on the drivers side front and rear and only after being stretched out (suspended on the hoist). it sits fine for a while after that. it has rally style coil overs all round. AS for the EA82T e...

Does anyone know of a place in Sydney that reconditions shock absorbers and what sort of price ill be looking at to get them done. I noticed the car was looking a little droopy when I was in the yard last night... Also if anyone has some new front lower control arm ball joints and a set of gearbox m...

This could be the answer to your engine sourcing issue. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/north-boambee-valley/engine-engine-parts-transmission/subaru-other-sedan/1080939096 I know some people here who used to rally one of the original 5 RX Turbo's imported in '85. they were forever replacing the dual...

OK, thought as much - you don't need us for help with that baby - race use only - probably worth more than what you shelled out on the whole kit. That is not a Subaru dedicated item :D , nor their rally spec unit ! Have seen a black MT8 driving an STi EJ. I am guessing the dizzy is the non vac adva...

An important thing to start with these unless you like wiring in new ECU and compenetry - start with telling us the numbers on the ECU if you wanted to start out right for an easy 17% improvement chase down a turbo Vortex with spider inlet manifold and all its electrical bits to go with it - once P...

Wow. I now see as to what extent your love for the 82's go. Unfortunately i will not be delving into anything remotely near what you have achieved. As an expression of interest what is your budget for the engine?

Been there myself. Reconditioning an engine means you have to pull it down anyway (in working order or a rusted seised lump) and have machining done where needed. If you can obtain a ok running EA82 in turbo spec then go for it. Otherwise you could start with the block you have take your time and d...

It was first registered for cams in 1991so id say it was after the originals, but it has been in a few national rallies. Going b...

Ive had a good read of the class regulations, you are allowed a 17% power increase but it is limited. Exhuasts and inlets are pretty much fair game including intercoolers...

85 rally leone

hey guys! So I've acquired an 85 Subaru Leone rally car!! It is very clean and straight with all the right gear in it!!! However it has been sitting around for the past 4 or so years due to a blown head gasket/cracked heads and an unwilling owner. When I got the car it was almost a rolling shell, th...
