Hey Dave. With the issue of the different diametre front tyres, your not going to break anything with this. The diff may be working a little more in a straight line. You'll really notice the binding when in 4wd wether they're on the front or the rear. Even with 4 tyres of the same diametre you'll st...

From my experience, If not buying the entire shaft, RX inners will not be enough. I have travelled this road. I had the RX cups ready to put into my L for my gearbox conversion (25 spline) - but the RX cups were too big too fit onto the ball of the standard L shaft. It must be my mistake about the ...

You should hold your foot flat on the throttle so the engine is on the rev limiter then bang the clutch out in 2nd gear on teh bitumen. It is a very quick way to find out where that bit of casing came from. At the expense of the gearbox? I know you'd be prepared for the worst in this situation but ...

Don't rule out a wheel bearing issue either, but this sounds like a CV issue. This has crossed my mine several times. Spoke to dad about it and he reckons its a CV issue. I'm starting to doubt this as i have heard a ticking (and can feel it in the floor pan) when cruising along a straight section o...

My last MPFI was seriously overheated but i couldn't stop (narrow road with double lines) so pushed it way past what it should have been. Last time i drove it (onto the trailer to tow home) it created a smoke screen, had a serious lack of power and blew smoke out of crevises in the engine that i've ...

DL's and GL's came in dual range 4wd. I think the single range may have been an option (and it may have had the 3.9 diff), but i'm not sure on this. They also come as front wheel drive only too (my sister has an '84 L front wheel drive GL) DL's for the L series has base everything - 3 guage dash dis...

Just last week I received my approved 'Application Form for Vehicle Modification' from the Dept of Planning & Infrastructure here in West Oz (They are the WA version of VICROADS & RTA etc) Their form was 11 pages long, where I had to answer all 70 Questions and state every modification I planned to...

Adrian, Could the TPS be mounted on the other side of the Throttle Body? This would make it work the way it used to - ie it will be turning the way it should be. Or could you mount your TB (from the RX) with the TPS on the spider manifold backwards so the butterfly opens the same as the TB on the sp...

Hey Julian, Both my front CV's are clicky, mainly whenever they're the inside wheel through a tight corner. They'll need replacing but i don't have the money or time so i just put up with it. Been doing this for almost 6 months. Hopefully they can hold out another 6 more. My left hand side also make...
