Maybe you have a blocked idle jet. Get a can of carby cleaner and spray it in to the carby with the car running. To unblock the idle jets you will have to rev up the motor, spray the carby cleaner into the intake, then while the engine is winding down cover the air inlet with a rag or your hand. Thi...

Not EFI, just an EFI fuel system (high pressure pump, return line, FPR). Still running the weber 32/36. Huge cop magnet, that clip doesnt do it justice. Still messing around with things to try and make it quieter. Nah no pics only done this over the last few weeks. Its a work in progress. It all wor...

Once had a cable kickdown that was adapted by a specialist after my engine conversion, cost me a weeks pay for their Sa...

Doug, has this problem always been there or just surfaced ? The 3 speed 4WD auto in my L Sedan GLTA used to do same and in conjunction with a marshmallow soft valve spring thanks to the service staff at allheads letting it slip through their diligent hands :( , that and LPG under boost - I'd someti...

Arrrh yes, that makes sence. Hmmm, wont work for me because Im running a blow through config. With no throttle butterfly before the SC I wont develop a vacuum there. Yeah, in my case the manifold sees boost pressure, so it confuses the gearbox. Oh well, looks like a tranny swap is the easiest soluti...

Hey Tweety, The VW auto tranny, does it use a vacuum modulator? If so how have you got it working in conjunction with the charger? My 3AT kicks down when I hit boost and wont change back up untill I back off. Potentially dangerous if going at HWY speeds and hit a hill or something. (kick down and ov...

swap a tranny?

Hi, Doing some work on the wagon during my time off, and I plan on changing my transmission. Currently got a 3AT in it which works fine, but I much prefer manuals, and I would like to take advantage of a dual range setup. So here comes my question. Looks like Im going to pick up a 80's sedan with D/...

nncoolg, Thanks for the offer mate. What I might do is pop into an exhaust shop and get them to also make a new header. Mines a little worse for wear. Mufflers more important because I dont want our friendly law inforcement friends to slap a yellow on it for noise. It would pass on everything else. ...

86 XT coupe muffler

Hi,

Anyone know where I can pick up a new muffler for a 1986 Subaru xt coupe? (Vortex in Australia)

I tried nation wide autoparts but they no longer make them. I cant find anyone else who has them for sale.
Failing that, could I adapt a wagon muffler to fit? Its still only an EA82.

Regards

Pump up the oil with ignition disconnected, plug in ign, fire it up and its running like shit, coffing, missing like a son bitch, and to top it of...

Im happy to ship you some stuff if your really keen. I have no idea on the condition of any of it. The compressor is stuffed. All the gas leaked out around the seal. The condensor looks like crap. most of the electrics suffered from "re-wiring" if you know what i mean.

Either that or get another car. Anyway, irrelevent at the moment. Just did the valves in one of the heads...

Hey, Didn't get crap all done today. Pulled out the head studs and cleaned the block surface. Got a question though. Scrubbed a little bit of carbon off the crown of the pistons. They have "0.50" stamped on them. Is this like motorcycles And that is actually an indication of how much oversized the b...

Money really isnt an issue. I pretty much accepted that the moment I decided to pull it apart. Im only doing this for the love :D. Re-boring isnt a problem, I can get it done for free ;). I will be pulling the motor soon and then Il know.
