New gearbox questions

Hi All I was very kindly donated a turbo EA 5 speed out an RX from Justin35 yesterday I will be dropping it in a non turbo L Series wagon (EA82) due to my gearbox needing serious work. I know I will need different drive shafts for it as the splines are slightly bigger. But is everything else the sam...

Nice decals on the side there.

Did you buy them ready made or do them yourself?

They are bloody beautiful to drive on the beach.

I have never had any clearance issues.

The dual range 4WD box helps too, if you ever start getting bogged down just stick it in low range and keep going

That is one sexy lib (not usually a fan of libs, I prefer the older stuff) but that is an impressive one.

lol, another example of somebody completely confused by Subaru naming conventions when it comes to "L series". I know Liberty starts with L....but common.... :) I know, whenever I have to call roadside assistance or go to an autoparts store I say "L Series" and they just go quiet for a minute and t...

wouldnt bother...dont waste any more money than you need to on these EA motors. alex I have spent around $4000 on my L Series since I got it 3 years ago and have done everything except the engine. The EA is still running strong and over 3 years has not given me any problems (done lots of interstate...

great I was thinking if needed you could splice an on off switch into the solenoid wire, that way you could use the choke to start, then when going use the switch to stop the choke TOONGA I might if I have troubles getting it started in the morning but it doesn't get very cold where I live so I sho...

if you have an automatic choke that is electrical it is simple enough to find the choke solenoid power and remove power to it, just make sure you don't remove the idle soleniod power, if it is a water choke (water pipes to the choke assembly) bypass the choke and it is disabled or retro fit a manua...

Removing/Disabling auto choke

Hi Everyone. I have a rather loud exhaust on my L series and in the mornings thanks to the auto choke on my L's carb I have to put up with the engine sitting at 2500-2800RPM idle (pretty loud in a residential area) for the first 1-2km of driving. Is there any way to adjust the auto choke or even get...

That occasionally works for me but usually makes them worse.

The best thing I have found is the old trick of running a bar of soap behind the fan belts.

Start the engine, get a bar of soap and run them through the belts/pulleys.

Should quieten them down a bit.

I have a belt that screams really loudly (quite embaressing) when i start up without the aircon on, but it disappears quickly when i turn the steering wheel (therefore i assume something to do with the pump belt?) but when the aircon is on at start up, the scream continues even if i turn the wheels...

Seats in L Series

Hi All. I have a mate who has offered me some recaro bucket seats from his R32 skyline dirt cheap (almost free infact) I know the rails won't be right to fit in the L but I was thinking if I was to simply go to the wreckers and get a set of L rails, would it not just be possible to bolt those rails ...

Similar situation to my L Series. Odometer shows 361,000 * Engine has done 120,000 * Struts/Springs - 30,000 * Brakes - 5000k (Yet, mechanics botched the drums now the adjusters are sticking on causing the brakes to knock, gotta take it back when I get the time) * Gearbox - 210,000 * Front seats - (...

Good setup though, I modded the area you have your guages in to permanently fit a navman widescreen GPS so it looks like part of the dash, also got a tacho, vacuum & soon an oil pressure gauge.
