Smell needs to be identified, brakes, clutch, gearbox oil, engine oil and coolant has its own smell if something is going wrong. Is there any possibility an slow oil leak on the exhaust causing the smell? Do a test for the clutch - put in 5th gear and try drive it off - if it stalls then the clutch ...

Hi. Had the same problems with my 98 RX (same motor) Has been getting slowly worse over the past couple of months, now undriveable. After much research decided to bite the bullet and buy a new MAF sensor. Less than $100 including overnight delivery. Magic all fixed, drives like a dream. Tried clean...

$308 for a kit is really not bad, especially from subaru dealer. Is it going to be roughly the same price in any other subaru dealers? No I was rapt when I bought it directly from Subaru Hobart. Normally you wouldnt get that price if you walk in other Subaru, Subaru Docklands wanted $555 for it and...

Was it from an sedan or wagon and what series model Gen4?

Maybe you should drive less in low range on the road, giving it less shit, less wheel spin etc and maybe, just maybe both the engine and box would last longer :p But yeah could be your clutch is getting low, Bent or failing clutch fork or less travel on the fork due to a leaking Master/slave cyl. Y...

Even Bearing suppliers sells them 1/4 of the price.
I bought ours MY07 Liberty for $308 as timing kit (belt, idlers, tensioner and seals) from Subaru Hobart (You need to speak to the manager at the dept there mention me - Tristan from Melbourne recommend him he will look after you)

Taz.. the clutch pedal might feel still the same, but what you'll need to check is the 'travel' that the clutch fork is moving. You might have a very slight internal leak in you master cylinder. Does seem strange to have a rebuilt gearbox have problems after 30,000kms. Have you spoken to the guys t...

I have fueled up 4 tanks since this has happened and that has changed nothing. It does it at all revs, including idle. I haven't checked the fuel pressure... I haven't checked the timing belt, but I thought that it could be possible that it has stretched and jumped a tooth... It is way over due but...

Is the timing belt in correct position/lined up?
Wont be related - MAP/MAF sensor?
