Currently running 2" system with a strait through muffler about halfway down and 2" to the end.
I don't really like the muffler I have as it isn't as deep as what I have on tyhe hardtop. I'd prefer to run a 2 1/4" system with a hot dog in the middle and a straight through muffler at the back.

I did the head gaskets on the 83 Hardtop. Unfortunately I just couldn’t loosen the exhaust nuts off the heads so I had to leave them on

I looked at the EA82 jet sizes in the workshop manual and they are bigger. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm sure with a bigger exhaust and different air filter they'd make a big difference. I am currently looking at rejetting and or bigger carbs on my spare twin set.... Stay tuned.

Not a good idea to delete it as it helps bleed air out of the block, lets water bypass when the Thermostat is closed. Cold climate models had a Thermo Valve before the Tee piece into the heater hose. https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11037476_10152765367256453_7958970824490626537_n...

Pull your spark plugs out and see if one or more your cylinders have filled up with coolant, this would cause a hydraulic lock stopping the engine turning over. I bought this a few weeks ago http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SUBARU-VORTEX-X-T-2-DOOR-COUPE-8-85-/271770159645?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_t...

This wagon has been for sale for a while. I haven't seen these headlights in Aus before, are they imported? http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/PsgAAOSw0e9U0-Ly/$_20.JPG http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mount-compass/cars-vans-utes/1984-subaru-other-wagon/1069905042 Round lights had a 1600 (EA71).

However no manner of contorting will get a socket/spanner into that space on the inner drivers side if you got the plate mounted on wrong ... ;)

I have a question! Only dawned on me this week; how much harder is it to change the oil filter now with the long pipe running around the front of the engine? I've never had any dramas changing the filter, you may dribble a bit of oil on the headers when the filter is off but thats the on...
