Resistor is an interesting idea, but asking around, no one can explain why a faulty knock sensor would cause the ECU to not turn ...

JDM turbo touring wagon (1990): not running correctly

So I'm trying to get my JDM turbo touring wagon running. The fuel pump isn't working (but works when powered directly from the battery) Using the check connectors, I'm getting error code 22, which I'm told is the knock sensor. The positive side of the fuel pump wiring works ok. The relay turns on fo...

Have you contacted Subareck in Adelaide? He's got all kinds of older subies around. I saw a few vortexes in the yard when I was there last December. BTW, in El Freddo's post showing the 6 pins on the L series control unit, the extra 2 pins are for variable timing. I've got an 8 pin one I bought from...

No, the intermittent unit for the L series is completely different to the Vortex. Mainly because it can't park the wiper though.

???? He's trying to make sure that his existing cluster works with the new engine.
Why the need for the rest of the stuff?

FYI, I don't know if its the same with the MYs, but the L series gauge for the coolant temp is a different range to the EJ sender. And they're different sizes :/ There are 2 temp sensors, one for the ECU (multiple pins) & one for the dash (single pin). I modded (drilled & retapped) the coolant passa...

I think there are still a few wagons at a wrecker near Wollongong. I'm pretty regularly up & down the Pac hwy, but not quite sure about the next trip. If you're not in a hurry, could organise something.

I currently have a single range, centre diff lock box in my car. Would you be interested in doing some kind of trade for the rear casing that has the provision for the low range rod?

I'll be in Brissie this weekend & heading to Toowoomba on Sunday. Could I schedule to meet you & have a look?

Carby & EFI EA82 tanks are different, but interchangable. It's a pity you didn't salvage the metal hard lines through the car, because they are also different (well 1 is) from carby to EFI. Tank with lines & pump would be good for an EJ conversion on a carby. If you're going to scrap it, let me know...

Did the guy have any other stuff left over? I'm heading up that way this weekend?

How is the low range activated? Rod through the rear casing like the L series, or cable directly to the low range pivot on the side of the case? I currently have a single range with centre diff lock from a Vortex in my car, but with the black RX turbo interior (which was only dual range), the centre...

The easiest way is to both sides of the relay trigger (ie pins 85 & 86) from the back of the headlight. Find which 2 of the wires have 12V across them when the high beam is on. If you wire them up this way, then it doesn't matter if the lights are earth switched, or power switched. The only drawback...

The centre diff lock isn't that hard, the 4wd Vortexes had them, its the dual range bit that's rare. If you had one of those to suit an EA82, then I'd be knocking at your door... :P

I've just sent that guy a message asking what gearbox is included. I've got a Vortex single range full-time 4wd box in my car currently, but I'd prefer the dual range full time box (mainly cos I've got RX turbo black interior trim & the centre console looks wrong :p). If it's the right box, I do you...

I know of a spider manifold, but be warned, everything's different, and I think it doesn't have the water jacket part (it's a separate piece that's sandwiched between the heads & inlet). The standard computer was usually the 1st thing junked on the rally cars. I've seen 20% improvement from just cha...

If you're not going too extreme, the Forester will be fine. It's only issue (like most late models) is the front & rear clearance angles. You can get steel replacement bumpers for the Forrie that solve this problem however. The Forrie is better than the Liberty because of its shorter wheelbase, whic...

If you're in Sydney, I might be able to help. I once had some extra cables made up that had that fitted up to the Liberty rear handbrake, but also to the original handbrake lever. The aim being that the cables went forward from the lever, then did a 180 degree loop over the top of the gearbox, and t...

I don't think that's quite correct about being 100% to the front wheel normally. I had a 93 Legacy GT auto (I know being an import & turbo it could be different from the normally ones) in the early 2000's, and I remember Honda doing a big ad campaign about their CRV being the first to offer that kin...
