Hard to find one of the twin carb engines that hasn't been modified/thrashed beyond repair and/or ended up inside an aircraft.

Mr Silverbullet...the engine is being fully rebuilt into new engine condition. Some mods will occur - cam, pistons, etc. Mr El Freddo...I'll think about it! I have a low km 4 speed dual range in it at the moment and I'm not particularly enthused about swapping it for some flogged out box with 400 00...

So the engine is an EA81S - twin carby EA81. Does that make anybody slightly more excited?

So I dropped off an engine on Saturday for rebuild... :D A lot of other things have happened to this car over the past few months...at first glance, it looks like an extremely clean stock Brumby. But look a little closer, and little differences become apparent. And that's exactly the way I want it.

They're not really that heavy! I can safely lift a complete EA81 onto the back of a Brumby without any trouble.

So both the thermos are supposed to remain on with headlights on? If that's the case then I have an issue.

Although we've already discussed in another thread that different air conditioning looms exist between early and later MYs.

The fans are miswired. The slimline fan is supposed to drop out when you turn your headlights on. Not both of them.

Car is fine, only has 55 000km on it and the radiator was rodded recently anyway...nothing. I'm not concerned at all.

Both fans all the time and the engine is not at optumum temp and will use more fuel. Well I respect your opinion, but with the mechanical fan the car temperature used to fluctuate all over the place and it would generally run at 1/4 on the gauge. With both electrics running all the time it is JUST ...

I'd tend to agree about engine oil and 81s...I've used several over the last few years and I've had some that make the thing go like a rocket and others that are just too heavy and make the whole thing more lethargic than it needs to be.

Wish mine was that simple to fix up! I have an annoying crackling noise somewhere in the driver's side dash which only crops up around 110km/h.

Definitely agree with you there. I've blown up three colder aftermarket switches...plan here was to install another relay to stop the fan current coming through the radiator.
