Sounds like its not getting enough fuel. As you think it could be fuel pressure reg or you have a crank vent valve or line ajar.

After doing a rear disc conversion to my L wagon, with the big tyres on i could lock all the wheels if i stood real hard on the pedal, but the notice in pedal response was immediate after the swap.

Take the top radiator hose off and start the enigine if you have water pouring out of the top hose you dont have a thermostat in there put one in that works and try again. From what i have heard they work wonders on diesel engines but have heard very little about thier virtues on the petrol motors

I get 10/100 in around town driving and the same with a loaded trailer on the highway but without trailer i get around the 8.5/100
