Gday Tony, THe EJ20 and 22 are physically identical size, its just the bore that changes. Even the baby 1.5L EJ15s are the same external size. Some food for thought for you if you do decide to go that way. When Custom VW first got into conversions to soak test their stuff they drove a dual cab komb...

Even worse is the driver that sits on 90kph, then speeds up for the duration of a overtaking lane, then slows down again once the lanes merge.

Adelaide to Victor Road is idiot central in my book.

Pedal rubbers - did not change from 1979-2011

The rubber boots for the interior light switches in the door frames - same duration, if not longer?

Would guess this car would fail a RWC test?!

Have to agree with the seller - is the most rusted car I've ever seen on carsales.com

Having had a bit of experience with the EA71, it is actually a very good motor - punches well above its weight. Responds well to nice exhaust and a decent carb.

If it were me, and the 71 was ok, I don't think you will find a lot difference over the 81

I know of (personally) of 3 EA81s getting about on dedicated LPG and have done so for MANY years. There is a lot white noise around re LPG. Old timers (with full respect) such as Steptoe are evidence enough it can be done... How you then go about it - tanks replacing petrol tanks, spare wheel tanks ...
