Commodores are like that: You pull the shocker rod out, tip out the oil then fit a sealed insert shocker.

I'm a bit late but make sure the crankcase breathing system is working properly: If that ain't doing it's job, you'll be forever chasing oil leaks: Something most guys forget to check.

Given they're an critical part of the steering system, do not cheap out. While, I haven't seen a tie rod end let go, I have seen cheap ball joints bust.

Go with a known brand, I'd probably buy local from a reputable shop who can look you in the eye and say the brand they're selling's fine.

I'll chuck in my 2 cents: You've done a top job. The time frame sucks, but cars are like that. Rust is a PITA. Welding the holes was the only real option. I once had a huge hole (from kids doing wheelies with a blown tyre) in a rear 1/4 to fill. I welded a plate on the inside of the hole, then welde...

Unfortunately, it's not just reco'ed ones that are wearing quickly. Some new ones aren't machined, the outer section is literally cast and that's it. Some brands of cars then get a vibration that is hard to trace, turns out the driveshaft is stuffed. We see the same with differentials and gearboxes,...

I'll second power brakes. I've used them plenty. All the guys (and gals) there are very helpful and got me out of a few nasty ones...although they hate (hate might be a bit strong, dislike) it when I bring forklift stuff into them :) Another possibility in the CBD is SA Brake and Clutch, not sure if...

Hi henpecked, silverbullet & david.

I can't remember who I sold it to, and I've scoured all my paper work. I'm sure I had to look at my valve clearences a few times, but it was mainly spark plugs I used to go through.

I'm out north of the city.

Hello from Adelaide, South Australia

Hello everyone. My first ride was a brumby, I bought from the family farm: It had 9,000km on it at the time. I think it had mid 50,000km on it when I sold it. It was a 92 I think. It definately had air cond, not sure about power steering. It had the common little aluminium bull bar on it. Since then...
