The leads seem to have done the job. It's running great now. Much smoother. I guess the leads had been degrading for a while, but I hadn't noticed until that one crapped itself completely.

tasscube: Was there any other factor? Surely leads shouldn't crap themselves that quickly.

It's fairly common, using EA engines for bugsmashers. I think Jabiru used to (or still do) offer a converted EA81 for their little thing, along side proper aircraft engines.

Imagine the performance with a turbo EJ25 haha

Yeah a lead is a lead, except for the plug on the end. :P http://ausubaru.com.au/picture.php?albumid=38&pictureid=259 There's the old one, the socket came out on the igniter box, and the boot broke off when I was trying to slide it back on the slim possibility I could reterminate it. Bah. But I got ...

Godsdamnit. I wasn't happy with the job I did cleaning up the terminal post at home, so when I had a few minutes at work I decided to get some proper chemicals to shine it up properly... And when I took the lead off the bloody contact broke off! So the HT lead was definitely borked. I took a work ut...

Driving my daughter to daycare this morning I noticed the car wasn't shuddering. Until I got home, at least, and then only slightly. I thought it was odd, but then realised that the last few times I've driven my car it's either been really cold and the car was covered in condensation, or it has been...

I checked the ECU fault code via the "check engine" light blinkery method this afternoon - and it blinked continuously, which I think means "no fault". Hopefully that means nothing major. I'm going to check HT leads, igniter packs, air filter, and failing that: the fuel pump thingo or the knock sens...

Outback intermittant lack of power

I have a similar problem to the '97 liberty mentioned in another thread here. In the last week or so my car has randomly shuddered while driving and idling. But this morning it was doing it quite regularly, especially when accelerating, and it was very noticeable. It almost feels like the choke is o...

Not if you want to join the club convoy, which is excusively Subie (club rules due to getting sponsorship from Subaru Australia and dealers). Club events generally wrap up early, so maybe continue the Ausubaru festivities into the evening? Dane. I was wondering about the adverts in the newsletter. ...

I spotted a poo brown ugly Brumby for sale on great northern highway just now. Nearly crashed from looking over my shoulder at it as I drove by! haha. Looked to be in decent condition, though there was no front badge. It was on the southbound side of the road, just before the roe highway temporary r...

They do that in Canada, too. The price on the shelf is before tax, so you have to ad 13% (PST + GST) at the checkout. I assume it's similar in the USA. Pain in the arse, it is. :P

The open diff with left and right brakes idea does work - my father in law has a floating six wheeler that uses that method. It's a pain in the arse to get used to, though. I'd prefer two motors :P

haha. I haven't been out with the WA Subaru Club since I was a kid. But, of course, I'm working that weekend so I won't be able to take the outback out for a spin. :( Have fun!

Hey Thalass - I didn't know we had let any Roo's loose in the "top paddock" or have you migrated "downunder"? ................    http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/1571/thalass.jpg Haha I could have sworn I changed that back when we got back to Perth. Walmart-shmallmart. You should go to Costco! haha. You shouldn't get lost in Walmart - I found some of the older ones are laid out exactly like an older BigW store, only larger with a food section and a gun section. Have fun, and watch out for homeland security! If you find "SSSS" on the bottom of y...

Man, I just about hit a roo a couple of weeks ago, too! I swerved, because I saw it at the last second (My headlights aren't the best) and in that instant I thought "Godsdamnit, I just had the front of this thing fixed!" Luckily I was only going 80, and when I swerved I didn't go off the sealed stuf...

I think I had my Touring Wagon up to 135ish on the way home from work in sydney a few times. Downhill coming off a bridge. It was only for a few seconds before I chickened out. I haven't had the Outback much past 120, though I haven't tried. Too many damn coppers around perth. And when I'm coming ho...
