Start of a snorkel? The elliptical end looks kinda like L series air intake.

With the base mostly enclosed as in your design, you won't be able to sweep or hose out any crap from underneath, so the castors are going to get jammed as soon as you try to move them. The lower shelf that the jack pushes up against will probably have to be more substantial than the drawing indicat...

Thankyou for your insight! I remember seeing your gallant vehicle parked about in Tom Price when I worked there for TPCM last year. Looked epic! I'll look into this too. It seems we've had similar issues. Small world eh? Should have added last night - because I haven't (yet?) got to to the root of ...

Sounds a bit like an issue I've had in my EJ22 L Series - after half an hour or so of light, constant throttle cruising it would either lose power or die completely. Never really got to the bottom of it, but it seemed to be starving, possibly because the original fuel return and breather lines are t...

Bennie is the freezer completely full? I had a similar problem for a while. Turned the fridge off and defrosted it, now only keep it 2/3 full and it's good as gold. Apparently if there's no room for air to circulate, the defrost drain will ice up and cause internal dribbles.

I'd pull the old hoses off, clean up the mounting area and get a set of new hose clamps in there too. If you're really keen you can also replace the little bent pipe above the water pump that is the heater return line. +1 Even if you're not really keen, when one hose needs replacement, then the oth...

At the risk of being shouted down by the true believers, I'm gonna say a Subaru isn't the best car for your needs. Next to any comparable front drive car, Subies are expensive, slow and thirsty. But if you want a Lib, go for it. Get out there and test drive some different cars. And Davidov, check ou...

See the picture? Work out a good spot for the sensor, then drill a hole and weld a threaded bung there. I took it to a cylinder head shop to get it welded.

Closer look says it is whole boss welded to that cross over section !! Yep. EJ sensor goes in that little hole on the right in the pic. EA is the much larger sensor added on the left. Makes sense to retain Brumbys gauge sender in EJ donk esp if the resistance values between two models are different...

There are currently two coolant temp sensors buried under your manifold. The larger one with a reddish plastic plug is for the ECU. The little brass one with a single wire (usually white with green trace) is the EJ gauge sender, which you don't need. The EA gauge sender won't go into any existing ho...

I'm confused. Are you talking about the fuel gauge or the temp gauge? Fuel gauge is unchanged in most conversions. If you're concerned about fuel consumption, first step is to measure it properly. An old temp gauge won't read properly with an EJ sensor - you need to get an EA temp sensor into the EJ...

The 80 channel ones will communicate with 40 channel versions. Speaking from experience? They are the same 1-40. But they added another 40, 41-80. It's these 40 that the old ones can't pick up. Defianatly get an 80 channel radio. Cheers Cam They're not quite the same 1-40. There are now 80 channels...

Definitely go for a proper 5W mounted one rather than handheld. Uniden and GME are the only brands to have in that price range. Mine is a Uniden UH015sx, which transmits on the 40 CB channels and also receives anything from 400-512mHz. Still going strong after 5 years (apart from one $35 mic replace...

Who knows, if you went with one like so it wouldn't need to be modified. You could rotate it slightly so it fits the A-pillar better. http://www.onoffroad.com.au/ebayimages/SKMPNM-NP/SKMPNM-NP_ebay_d.jpg If a Brumby is anything like an L Series (and I think it is), you won't be able to go inside th...

Mild 3" exhaust pipe ftw. Cut the hole in the guard where you want it, sketch (on paper or on the side of the car) the desired shape of the snorkel, maybe include some mounting points, and deliver to your local exhaust shop for fabrication. You could go for stainless, but mild steel + paint is just ...

There is not much difference between the alternatives in most of decisions you agonise over.

Go for a 1997 or earlier EJ22 because they are easy to get parts and info for, and by far the easiest to do harness chops on.

some shit about my "obvious" "lack of understanding" My point is that Farmer Brown (or at least his kids) will learn how to deal with an ECU and some sensors, just like he learnt to deal with a combine harvester and then a GPS guided one. Furthermore, he'll like it because the new gear will get his...

easy outs should never be used if a bolt has snapped off cause it is seized in place.
In that case, when should easy outs be used? Just curious.
