Sell FS: '97 JDM Outback

My JDM '97 Outback is up for sale as I am moving overseas. A very very very regretful sale after investing a lot of time and money into this car. It is only a few steps away from being a very capable machine. It has been used as an offroad vehicle, and has its issues, thus the low selling price. Reg...

The front half of the input shaft gearset on gen 2 boxes are different, particularly the synchro ring - look at AlpineRaven's big thread for all you need to know about 1.6 low range into gen 2 boxes.

4.11 and 27's is a great combination, I love it. Just buy an sf5 forester box - 4.11 with 1.4 (maybe?) low range requires no internal mods... You'll just need an adapter place to fit to your EA and as RSR said, different crossmembers. Then when if you go EJ the gearbox side of things is already done...

A shim kit is definitely worth it if you can't get the right backlash. Are both crownwheels the same tooth count? The side shims move the bearing retainers in and out so as to change side pressure on the diff, but you might also need to adjust the 'stick out' of the pinion shaft, something I never m...

I couldn't agree more but the difference is that they know there are consequences to their actions, you don't or very very rarely see graffiti, vandalism, bad public behavior and you could be walking down the street pissed at 2am and walk through a group of 20 teenagers going the other way and know...

I have to fire up about this this one, I've generally ignored this thread but nup not today. Kids are kids - teenages are teenagers, especially! Somehow society has decided that kids are supposed to be the same as they were in my or my parents generation, when the world is completely different. The ...

Cheers Matt! You should see how the rear bar is coming along then! I ran out of mig wire unfortunately and have a few days of work in a row so will kick into it again next week. 2 coats of primer are done at it's looking good! The problem now is I can't decide on what colour to make the top coat. I'...

My bullbar's custom underwear

For the last year and half I've had a bullbar with no 'bumper' or guard underneath. The one attached to the bullbar when I bought it was a PIA fibreglass thing that maintained the original factory shape - useless! What's the point of having a bullbar if you don't gain some improvement in departure a...

Check for play in the strut top hat's bearing, I had the same problem and replaced the hat and the problem went away.

I have it again now but I'm 90% sure it's the control arm bushes in my case as they've been on the blink for a while.

So only 1" strut lift and the rest body lift if im understanding? Nah mate, I had 3" strut lift. I then had 2" body lift. This meant there was only one inch difference from stock in the relationship between the hub and the gearbox, while the body was 3" higher than stock, the drivetrain's crossmemb...

Those hilux boots sound like a good idea! The strut tops were 3" spacers. The body spacers where 2". That meant that in relation to the hubs the body was 3" higher, in relation to the crossmembers 2". So the difference between gearbox and hub is only 1" higher than stock, however the whole get up is...

It was the boots and I went through 3 (1 front outer, 1 front inner) and 1 rear in 2 months - they weren't 'subaru' brand but they weren't crap either. Keep in mind that while I had 3" strut tops there was also a full 2" body lift, so the CV's where only an inch from stock. Is 3" worth it? Depends o...
