There is not much difference between the alternatives in most of decisions you agonise over.

Go for a 1997 or earlier EJ22 because they are easy to get parts and info for, and by far the easiest to do harness chops on.

some shit about my "obvious" "lack of understanding" My point is that Farmer Brown (or at least his kids) will learn how to deal with an ECU and some sensors, just like he learnt to deal with a combine harvester and then a GPS guided one. Furthermore, he'll like it because the new gear will get his...

Hey Disco, what did your father and grandfather say about all the injectors and computers and turbos and cats and advance diaphragms in your RX or Skyline? Yet both those cars are still running and being repaired now. Why should late model diesels be any different? Yes, they have downsides and you c...

easy outs should never be used if a bolt has snapped off cause it is seized in place.
In that case, when should easy outs be used? Just curious.

The long motor will drop straight in and bolt up, but the 2000 manifold will not go onto the 1992 engine, and the 2000 computer and wiring will not match the 1992 manifold.

Sure it's the flywheel? Something would have to be a fair way out of place for the flywheel to touch the crossmember. I've had the header pipe just touching the crossmember, which transmitted vibrations all over the shop.

At a guess a 90's model, as it was old. 90's model is old?! Kids these days  L Series seats will go into an MY, and Lib/Foz/Imp seats will go into an L Series, so I'd say just about anything should be interchangeable with some fiddling. 1.25 is cross sectional area, not a current rating. Match the colour of your old wire to the casing colour of the new fusible links.

Just measured the IAT off my 1999 Forester engine - 1.53k ohms at (warm) ambient, 1.06k ohms when dipped in hot tap water. No idea if that's what it should be though :???:

If you always go 4wding with a friend, just a snatchie and two shackles will do. If you go out alone, you should have either a shovel and a strong back, or a winch and winch straps . But if you're keen to have all the gear, that kit is a pretty good value way to get it. if you have 900 to spare ther...

Got a kit just like that in the car, but mine came from a 4wd shop so cost a fair bit more than $39 :(. Seems to be pretty good quality, and they are very handy - quicker and easier than jacking up and changing a tyre.

As others have said, don't expect the plugs to be a permanent repair.

I reckon those plugs might be for the relays tucked up somewhere above the fuse panel. The relays (four on my car, maybe only three on yours) are all the same, so just plug any one of your mystery connectors into each of them. http://ausubaru.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=3099&stc=1&d=132671320...
