Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
I love that bracketry and the tiny little spal fan! It’s pretty common practice to put your fan in then fit the radiator in place then finally fit the fan to the radiator! Sounds like the tank mods are the hold up now. Did you contact Subarino to see what advice he could offer as he’s done this mod ...

Re: Mighty Car Mods latest build AUG23!
I believe this isn’t far off from having tickets released. Last I heard they were sorting the last of the approvals in one or two states for the raffle.
Patience. Even though I’m keen to see who wins it or at least which state it ends up in.

Re: Red Targa Brumby
So now Redback developed a misfire at cruise. It’s weird - under load no issues. Hit that light throttle at cruise and on it comes, no rhythm to it, just random putting and loss of power that’s “gently jolty” at this point. I’m worried if I keep driving it I’ll be left stranded on the side of the ro...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
That soldering trick on the PS line is a neat work around. Hopefully extending the return line is just as straight forward.
How are the tank mods coming along?

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Oooh good one. No brainer if it was me - I’d be further modifying the fuel tank to avoid cutting the vehicle up. But that’s my way of operating with my vehicles. Or think of it this way. What’s going to look neater/natural to a fellow Subaru nut? If there’s a slight bulge in the cargo floor they may...

Re: G'day from a new Brumby tragic!
Yeah mate that’s and epic amount of work! Kudos on fix that rust. I’m too busy driving mine atm to fix those issues. I’m hoping mine is held at bay until I can get to it. The carb issue is best resolved with and EJ conversion  My understanding of the carb and emissions is that you need to b...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Suby Spanner that’s all too common now with exhausts in parts yards. As for the turbo manifold, all EJs are dual pot exhaust in Oz from my understanding and they fit. That single port thing seems to be a US build/requirement at the time. Depending on which SOHC head/engine you’re using will depend o...

Re: 2022 Forester Battery drain
That’s fair enough with wanting to do a prelim check. If the backup fuse is also responsible for the interior lights, is there one that’s staying on all the time? I’m wondering if there’s one in a door jamb that’s on that you can’t see. I like the idea of the heat gun but I think accessing all the m...

G’day Mihajlo, Welcome to the forum. You’re English is going well ;) Shame about the smashed 2010 Impreza, not a good start I’m guessing. All the best with selling the parts. On the forum they’ll probably move slowly, sadly Facebook has all but killed off forums, they’re very inactive these days but...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Yeah mate nice battery, I’ve only just heard about those lithium batteries with the back up function for starting! What life expectancy can be expected from it living under the bonnet with the engine heat? Remote reservoir in the factory setup sits lower than the PS pump so it must be able to suck t...

Re: 2022 Forester Battery drain
G’day Dick, Being a 2022 model, isn’t it still under warranty? I know that can be a painful process but since it’s the backup power circuit fuse that when removed stops the drain I’m out of ideas without looking at a wiring schematic for your model. Can you tell us what the back up power fuse suppli...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Whoa Sam, I can see why you can’t find space for your remote PS reservoir! That battery is massive!! I’m guessing it’s your all in one for starting and “dual” battery purposes such as running a fridge? Can’t do some magic with the pipe work and relocate it else where? It’s looking good. Any estimate...

Hey Timmo! Sorry I didn't reply earlier! Thanks mate - who knew all this Subaru fun would pay off with something that epic?! Pack a lunch for this one... nothing unusual there! Subinats happened on Saturday the 30th of September 2023. My preparation plans went out the window when I did my back for t...

Re: Whoops - 1985 MY wagon addition!
I’m hoping not to go down the threadsert road if I don’t have to SB! I wouldn’t say it’s saved yet, there’s loads to do. The question is where do you stop? Have you made an inquiry about the two wagons? Both DLs or touring wagons? And how rusty do they look? It could be cool if you can hook someone ...

Re: 89 Targa Brumby
Subi Spanner, the auto L series were all 3.9 diff ratio and I believe many of the early Imprezas were 3.9 ratio too. Good news about that beige brumby! I’ve not heard of rusting out at the base of the A pillar without a hole in the corner above it but I guess anything is possible. Vinyl floor - live...

Re: Whoops - 1985 MY wagon addition!
G’day Suby Spanner, That’s a great trick using the high temp silicone for exhaust gaskets. I’ve done it for many years now but failed to do it to that one in the pic. I put some on the second one today as well as on both of the Y pipe mating surfaces. Worked a treat! As for the struts I’ve already s...

Re: Mighty Car Mods latest build AUG23!
Anyone been contacted to actually buy tickets yet?
It’s got me wondering when they’ll draw the raffle as I had it in my head it would be at Subinats - one of the reasons I decided to head up there this year. Maybe it’ll just be on display to generate more interest. Hmmm…
