Sorry to drag out this old thread but I thought it better to keep all the related info together. So, I had the car looked at by a garage today and they did the following: replaced 3 vacuum lines cleaned carb with 'Subi Spray' reset mixture and idle checked dizzy and found sticking advance weights wh...

There's a place in Gepps Cross called All-Drive Services. They took over from Rising Sun (?), I believe, and they are Subaru specialists. http://www.all-drive.com.au/ I have my car booked in on Tuesday to try and solve an ongoing vacuum leak so I'll see how it goes and let you know. Just had the car...

The earth looks good but I'll definitely get a couple of wires on it to check before I replace the switch.

Cheers for the reply, I realised when I'd put it back together I should have measured that tab or maybe tried swapping the adjusters on opposite sides. I just ordered some new shoes. Figured I might as well replace them when I get time to pull it apart again. Didn't seem possible to put the shoes I ...

I replaced mine on my Brumby a couple of years back and it was fiddly but not impossible. Can't remember removing the plate that taza mentioned - maybe a previous owner did it?
I think I used a small socket extension for the tricky bolts.

Brumby drum brake adjustment issue

Hi everyone When I got my car ('87 Brumby), one of the rear brake drum adjusters had a damaged thread and had limited adjustment capabilities. I recently got a used adjuster and just fitted it today. I was expecting to be able to finally get a proper adjustment done but, unfortunately, I had a bit o...

Yeah I suppose you're right - it was exceptionally cheap. Having said that, I'll probably end up buying another cheap one. At least it'll make me change the coolant regularly!

Rather than start a new thread, I'm just gonna add to this to keep the info together..... I found out recently that my thermo fan doesn't kick in any more. I haven't double checked the motor yet but (as per earlier in the thread) the switch was replaced in July 2013. I'm just wondering what the norm...

There is a Facebook page too, I only found out about this show recently via the Iron Chef Imports Facebook page. I reckon there'll be a lot of modern modified stuff but hoping for some good classics as well.

Couple of years back I got some genuine from a Subaru dealer. Can't remember how much but they can't have been ridiculous or I would have got them made elsewhere.

I'll follow this thread with interest as my Brumby steering rack has started to feel and sound a bit rough. Might be a while before I get round to it though.
Are all manual MY racks interchangeable or are there variations between years, models etc?

Cheers

That was my first time at U Pull It, it's pretty close to where I live. I managed to get a rear brake adjuster, a fuel filler flap and a couple of window winders. There was a set of 13" white sunraysia style wheels on one wagon if anyone's interested. I'm looking forward to a trip to the other 2 yar...

I replaced mine a year or so back. My Brumby is 1987 model and I suspect the hoses had not been previously replaced. Guess I was lucky they all held out until I got round to it. Would have loved to have gone braided but, as usual, budget ruled over all else! Once put braided hoses on the front of a ...
