Use a later SG gearsrt if you can get hold of one. Or a gen 4 outback box is the same.
SG 05-07
Gen 4 OB 04-08
The outback has a slightly shorter 5th than the SG one by 200rpm at 100kmhr.

Great to see we are in the same boat with this jerky-ness..
My SF has a very similar issue which makes the car unbearable to drive in traffic. I do not remember it always being there and have changed pretty much everything under the body. I'm now at the point of giving up and flogging the car off.

Where did you find the rear bar?
try finding a second hand one for an SF! Ive bought numerous SF's for under a grand howwver I can't justify the price of a new subaxtreme rear bar for my bunky old SF.

All done. Didn't use a gaskets. Just ultra blue and slapped it back on. Lettinh set for 24hours. Did it I n an hour solo last night on the ground.
had to jack the engine a little to get better access to the rear bolts. Can be undone with a good phillips screw driver.

I have to do mine before easter in the MY, leaking about 100mm of oil a day out of the gasket... the little plate on the bottom of the crossmember where the sump guardd bolts onto, this has to be removed. Drill out the 4 spot welds, replace with nut and bolts. With the plate removed you can get to t...

Yes it can. Ive done it in a brumby. Ive left the linkages and cut the floor about 20mm further back. Then just drilled a hole and made a little bracket to hold the whole linkage.

I'd personally go 5speed L series box. Easy to fit, the bonus of 5 gears and proper low range gearing.

Why do you need the A/C/vent/fan controls? Can the standard ones not be used or are they fixed to the same panel?
