Yep anti clockwise ;) After a google search I'm not the only one quite a few people have had this issue and they usually end up taking to a "workshop" where they have a rattle gun. I had thought about buying one of those nut crackers, not sure if I could get it into place on the lower inside nut. Th...

Goodness me !! I suppose using a pipe on the end of your new Sidchrome breaker bar? is not covered by warranty? Sometime Confucioos say "try to do up before undo" and sometimes Confucious right, bastards come undone after a tweak in the wrong direction. In here, people have their preferences such a...

Went out and bought a new sidechrome socket came home and managed to undo 2 out of the 16 bolts(2 cars=8 struts) both were the top bolts (and they were just normal not oval) So the bottom nuts that are hard to get at must have the oval bolt. Bent the socket arm on the next bolt, had a day off work t...

Alex there's a bracket that holds the brake line and I read on the internet to just hacksaw through this bend it back and slide out the break line, which I did. Anyway back to the bolts... I must be soft as I have tried a socket and a ring spanner in opposite directions and I couldn't budge it. Sinc...

stuck strut nut

As mentioned in another post I want to take the struts out of an unlicenced Outback and put them in my Liberty But things are not going to plan I've been spraying WD 40 on the nuts and bolts every evening for the last 4 days in preparation as I've read the bottom strut nuts can be hard to undo(that'...

Nothing wrong with using tyres and rims - very stable if done right. Just make sure the car is on level ground and that the stands get a good grip on whatever you put them under - in other words make sure the shape of the mounting point matches the shape of the stand as close as possible - this wil...

Are you serious ? I think if you have to ask that question then you have to ask yourself "Should I really be doing this ?" Yes I am serious, otherwise I would not have asked. I have come to these forums to increase my knowledge not to be belittled. I did not ask for your opinion of what I should be...

Where to put car stands

Tomorrow I'm thinking of swapping the struts out of the unlicenced 97 outback I have into my 92 Liberty and then vice versa. I've bought 2 car stands and I'm going to do 1 corner at a time. After jacking up the car where is the exact best place to put the car stand for when I do the rear and for whe...

should these hoses be plugged in

On my 92 Liberty I have these 2 hoses from the ? transmission not plugging in to anything (pic1), I've had a look at my 97 Outback and they plug into a metal bracket (pic2) Just wondered what do they do and should they be plugged into one of these brackets? as there is no bracket on the Liberty. htt...

How to fix this leak

Hi I've been smelling exhaust fumes in my new car and after looking around I have found a leak at a connection just in front of the cat, see pic. Can some one tell me how I can fix this please, such as what parts do I need or can I just tighten up those bolts at the join? http://img821.imageshack.us...

Why do Subaru's run at high revs

I can't remember exactly off hand, but the Liberty 2.2 and the OB 2.5 I have seem to run at around 2700 rpms at about 100k's where as my commodore, my wifes daewoo, and the 2010 falcon at work sit around 1800 rpms at 100ks' (all above are auto's) Why is this? The boxer engine design? The gearing in ...

Toonga don't make it any harder for me :???: I'm already struggling with my decision :( The engine removal is already daunting for me :???: but I've got time, patience and the internet on hand. Hmm I think most of the people suggesting part out are a bit biased  in that they might want some par...

At the moment, I'm thinking I might have a go at taking the motor out of outback and try and fix the overheating, if this works then swap the stuts in both cars so I have a lowered around town Outback and a raised Liberty for trips away. If the motor issue becomes too hard and expensive for me then ...

Those Outbacks rims are only 15", the 16" and a lift will look heaps better ;-)
