I remember Wrangling my diff in a similar fashion, but I had the mustache bar in place already. You got to remember, it was early 1980's. Getting stuff CNC fab'd would have been more expensive then a monkey with a drill press and a torch. Becides, I cant have seen many people wanting a diff guard or...

I had that cruise control system in my wagon and I could swear you took pictures of mine. I pretty much installed it in a identical fashion ;). Not in there anymore. It decided one morning that it was going to hold my car flat out in neutral . Turned out to be the seals in the vacuum solen...

Just had a look at this, http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/singleton/cars-vans-utes/rare-subaru-xt-turbo/1074048320 Interior is in decent shape, paint is ordinary, sunroof is wonky and no doubt leaks, couple of dents in panels. No money has been spent on the engine, the 7k thing is utter crap. Evident ...

Paul mentioned it was AM auto's in QLD that did the wiring in his outback. He's not sure if they scratch make looms. He also mentioned a mob called Painless Wiring (as someone who's done their fair share of work with wire, I would not describe it as painless :D), might be worth a shot. If you do end...

Its the unfortunate nature of that sort of job. Not many people want to touch old cars and I can understand why. I see it all the time with my work. Classic lazy tradesman. Somewhere in there head it becomes acceptable to turn away money. Not sure when Paul's back but he recently got some work done ...

I once towed Pauls MY wagon with mine......Yeeeaaaahhh lets not go there. Also towed small 6x4's full of crap no dramas. Only trailer I have had drama's with was a duel axle...

My wagon is pretty much a beach car now, I occasionally use it for work, but the vortex is more comfortable so its my daily. End of the day It isnt a big deal to me if my speedo is analog or digital, just as long as it tells me how fast im going :D. Next time I talk to PaulRSR Il ask for you. Regard...

I did get my Digi going...sort of. I then promptly fried it on the bench some how and it refused to power back up I threw it out long ago. The wiring is different between digi and analogue. The digi has 3 round plugs where the analog only has 2. All the wires seem to match in color and application s...

The bog will be from a lean condition. If the mixture screw is set correctly you need to look into the accelerator pump. Does your carby actually have a pump jet per barrel? Given the size of the throats I would hazard a guess that your going to need a pump jet on steroids. Do you get a drumming dro...

Alas, I wouldnt remember, I had all the gaskets already :D. OEM would be pricy compared to the endurotech ones I used. Both my heads were cracked between the valves. I would be surprised if there is any ea82 out there without a crack between any of its valves. Mine didn't leak into the ports so I di...

If your just doing headgaskets you dont need the hoist. I did my N/A vortex maybe 8 months back without removing the engine. It isnt too expensive to do. You need a bunch of gaskets (maybe 80 bucks) and some time to do it. If you dont have any tools it may get a little bit more pricy. If you haven't...

You shouldnt turn your engine off in traffic unless your going to sit there for 20min or longer. The coolant in the block will heat soak and the temps will go up faster, so when you restart the engine, its hotter then if you just left it idling (unless there is the small issue of exhaust going into ...

Bit of work to the Wagon today, Brakes have been pretty poor the whole time Ive owned it. I stripped down the hubs, cleaned them out, inspected the slave cylinders, shoes and drums, lubed and assembled them. Flushed out the old fluid and replaced it with some new stuff. No difference at all, so I re...
