Hard to say, the clutch was shuddering on the flywheel before. Whether that was the step or just didn't bed in properly I'm not sure. It's only about a .5mm step, so it'd be within the wear a clutch would go through anyway. I imagine it would just become more of a problem as the clutch aged and the ...

No need for a supercharger with the fresher motor, made me realise how much the old motor had been lacking. Anyway got a bit slack with the photo's during the motor swap. Heres the only one of the new motor: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/OverBored/H6%20Liberty/IMG_20141224_161529.jpg New cl...

Yes mine all have a grease niple. This one never took any, I suspect it had been on the shelf a very long time and the prepack grease had gone hard. The prepacked grease came out in chunks on the others. I cleaned out most of the grease on the new one and put fresh stuff in while disassembled. Brand...

Still diagnosing my driveline issues and decided to remove and inspect my tailshaft uni's. First uni at the yoke was definitely a bit rough. When I tried to knock it apart a big cloud of rusty red dust came out which was kinda funny. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/OverBored/H6%20Liberty/IMG_...

New motor swapped in. Took a lot longer than expected because I ****ed up by removing all the shims, which of course meant the cam lobes scrapped on the edge of the buckets and got damaged. A bit annoying, because it wasn't the straight swap I had planned. Luckily I had a full gasket kit on hand, be...

I thought the new shiny bolts matched well to the aluminium oxide ;) The exhaust valve clearance tolerance I had wasn't right, it must be for a later EZ motor. Found another source with pictures (Technical Ref) and confirmed with some diagrams on a Subaru parts website. Exhaust is 0.25 +/- .05 mm. S...

Valve shims. It only took me a few months to get these out of the spare motor. Ended up just prying the buckets down with a screwdriver, exactly what I didn't want to do.. but it worked. And since I'm a visual kinda guy I set it all out so I know what is going on. I'll buy a micrometer tomorrow, mea...

Timing chain cover is refitted. The bolts are a lot better than the hex heads. Image

I was in a bit of a rush so this was the only decent photo I took. Spent a bit of coin getting Phillips +100 bulbs for low and high beams. Better looking headlight, but for me the biggest improvement is having a single assembly rather than the separate indicator. Much neater. http://img.photobucket....

Refitted the projectors. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/OverBored/H6%20Liberty/IMG_20141210_110959.jpg I've been really disappointed with the quality of water-proof plugs I've purchased in the past. Mainly the pins not aligning properly when you plug them together, I had this proplem with my...

That description of the strut top blocks you've given sounds wrong, I can't tell from your picture. The blocks should locate the strut top in towards the motor (giving it negative camber) and rearwards.

You also need to get a wheel alignment because the toe setting is probably cactus.

Finally received my timing chain cover bolts. Anodised aluminium so hopefully the don't corrode like the old ones did.

So that rad squeezes in under that top panel where the old one sat behind it? That wouldve give. you about an extra inch clearance, very cool ;) What is the rad from and how thick is it? Never mind followed your link... Thats what ive been wanting to do with my car for a while to free up some space,...

Ah yeah forgot you had the L series locking centre. So what it has 3.9 now? That's kinda shit. Before investing in a custom pinion for the 4.44 I reckon you would want to serious look at DCCD. Your tailshaft will be shorter, and going short is fairly cheap and easy. Linkages should be fairly straigh...

I'd definitely be going 4.44. It'll compensate, probably more than, the slightly longer ratios of the SG box. Certainly need to be cruising in the powerband at 100 so its not bogging down at all.

It will only be equal to or a little more than the heaviest stock flywheel. There's no way it could be worse than an auto. Doubt its going to matter all that much to the H6. Perhaps with a happier ecu it will actually be more efficient. Lightweight flywheels dont make that big of a difference so I r...

So Bennie how was the cooling with thermos all going the right direction? Would be nice if you didn't have to pull up and lift the bonnet for a cool off. Funny how many of us stuck a hand behind your radiator to check air flow? I know I did a few times. Do you have the inspection plate fitted to you...
