Yep the aftermarket cam seals are prone to failure. The original seals work a treat. +1 Or at least source Japanese made, in which case just go through FROG. Damn good price at whats quoted. Its a shame the labour to replace them is massive :( Some of the seals, gaskets and o'rings in a gasket set a...

Hmmm, Jelly bean mags on the old Flanders mobile. Might be a bit silly on an L series but right at home on a Brumby or MY.

I think Im right in saying it just has a bolt going through it horizontally, yeah? What are the sizes of the 'crush tube' and bolt for this original? Yes it is horizontal. I cant locate where I have those bolts. More than likely they are M12 about 90mm long with a flanged bolt head. They will turn ...

I set mine to 10 deg on the carby L series which I felt was conservative. With nothing more than fancy engine pipes, min 95Ron and lots of carbon build up from worn rings and shyte PCV system. Ran great for yonks. Now I have rebuilt the bottom end with standard sizes and 20thou off the deck faces an...

Not sure I have a solution Bennie, but will offer my experience. Some years ago with my L series, I filled her up one day as I do with 3 clicks of the pump, I know the label on the filler door says: Caution When filling the fuel to the tank, do not add more fuel after the fuel filler gun has automat...

I want that set of timing belt covers. They look pristine like some of the other bits on that score of a donor engine you got :)

So as for performance and longevity, do you plan to provide for an intercooler or water/meth inj setup? Or will this be a by the book period rally car?

Its the way of the world. When you have something you need/want/have made or use everyone else wants it. When you dont need or want it, nobody wants it.
Sooner or later someone will be after your items.

My first Subaru was a 74 sedan. It was towed 50 odd ks on a car trailer by an 83 wagon. Up and down the blue mountains from Katoomba to Penrith. This was 20 years ago and with a well used example of an MY 4wd. That same wagon went on to do another 240000kms before it was retired from road registered...

All above are good statements and experiences. Remember though in the absence of a suitable torque wrench or experience by 'feel', that 195Nm of torque is approx 20Kgf/meter. So if your 'extention bar' whatever that maybe is 1 meter between where you apply the force (put your foot or body weight )is...

It only sags on the drivers side front and rear and only after being stretched out (suspended on the hoist). it sits fine for a while after that. Its prob nothing to worry about. If you have the time you could pull all struts out dismantle and measure spring free length and check dampers for leakag...

More likely to be the springs causing this. And are you speaking of front or rear or overall?

Why these bushings? Well I figure there's no point in stiffening up suspension components if what they're mounted to is all mushy. About as much point as a 'cat back' exhaust when the pipes in front of it are smaller. Start at the top and work down or don't bother. Actually I'm not sure why the cro...

I tend to agree with you there SB. And I have stripped down a couple of rear diff xmembers and the matching pinion mounts using all 12tons of a workshop presses force. Talk about busting a poop poov valve as Carl Barron would put it!
