Portal Hubs on a Subaru

These would be awesome but they're not cheap, getting parts like bearings might be interesting & with the straight cut gears, he says its not good to drive over about 50-60kmh. But they would be BRILLIANT offroad, have a 1.2 reduction, give great ground clearance under suspension components & give 4...

UPDATE: It's taken a while but the ECU is learning & I'm now pretty happy with the EJ22. It has noticeably more poke in the midrange & a little more torque at low RPMs. There's a steep hill near home in a 60kmh zone that the old EJ20J would just barely hold speed in 4th @2000RPM @60kmh. Initially, t...

Clutch types

A mate is doing a dual range gearbox conversion on his Foz GT, does anyone know what type (push or pull type) is on a Foz GT and a SF NA?

Anything he needs to know?

I agree that the front diff is the most important, unfortunately its also the most difficult. But don't underestimate a good centre diff, thats why the L series with their locking centres do so well. While you're doing the box, I reckon a DCCD is a good idea, although it can be swapped in later with...

looks a nice clean engine. shame you will be covering it in mud! Not a shame at all haha ;) Nice for Nachaluva to have have a green sump, very fitting :) Yeah, I thought so lol The swap wasn't all plain sailing. When doing the timing belt, I swapped the EJ20 crank sprocket from a '00 NA Foz (EJ202)...

Nah, it's not leaking and the parts guy said he's hardly ever had to get one so I didn't bother. What inspection plate is that? The oil separation plate on the back of the engine? Mine is plastic but looks in good condition so I didn't bother with that either. This is how I held the cam sprocket in ...

I've already got the rear main seal, and the rocker cover gaskets, as well as the bolt seals. Also the oil pump seal. I might do the oil filler neck seal as well, but the PS pump seal should be fine as that's my current one & has no leaks. I asked at the dealership about the sump but he said there's...
