Question for you WA'ers. When does a vehicle over there need to have an inspection? In the ACT and NSW any vehicle over 5 years old *has* to have one in order to change the registered owner. It is pretty common over here, when buying a older car, for the seller to take it over the pits first, so whe...

Looks like a great day out! Shame about the drive shaft.

Did the low range make all the difference you hoped?

Cucumber made me laugh :) The first time I did a drive shaft was with a couple of (mechanic) friends sittiing giving instructions (and drinking). It seemed incredibly complex and hard at the time. Many years later, a drive shaft is a pretty easy job. So I guess, give it a go with whatever advice you...

I am very interested to know how good those AWD specific courses are - but they sure seem like a lot of $$$ for the time. For that money you could find someone with a land cruiser and a winch, and pay for their fuel to follow you round while you learn your limits...

I spent a fair bit of time as a newly licensed driver in a early seventies corrola. I could flog it as hard as I wanted, wring every last horse from it, drop the clutch as hard as I wanted, throw it into corners, etc etc, and when I did efff up - and I did - I wasn't going fast enough to die. So, an...

Can you take the whole blade base assembly off, take it to a wheel and tyre place and get them to balance it like they would a wheel? I imagine a fair chunk of the vibration comes from that being not perfectly balanced?

In that time the house has gone from ~$100k to ~$400k.

A car with similar luxury and performance is what? ~$150k max?

So relatively speaking, luxury cars are heaps cheaper, and regular cars are basically free. ;)

Oh, I think electric is the eventual way to go - whether it is hydrogen, batteries or whatever. But there are two reasons too move away from petrol (and deisel and gas) powered transport. One is to break the dependency on oil - for political reasons, and 'cause it is/will become more scarce/expensiv...

Hydrogen has several advantages over current electric vehicle tech: - high energy density - easy to make, store and transfer - people are familiar with internal combustion (and like it) But their are still draw backs: - it is only as greenhouse friendly as the electricty used to make it - which in s...

On the topic of custom bar work... What sort of material do people use? Obviously most homemade stuff is largely round steel tube. But what sort of wall thickness is it? Where can you get it from? What is it normally used for? etc etc... Not thinking this is something I am going to tackle all that s...

Hey tweety, does the trike have airbags? Are they built into the bars or what?

I have seen personally ones for bike riders which are part of a best you wear, but it never occurred to me that you'd have 'em on a trike?
