Actually this particular one is a home-conversion (or, rather, a racing team's conversion) of a 1995 Impreza. They claim to be able to keep up with the petrol cars they race against - not winning all the time, but not trailing the pack either. I've not heard anything about an electric Subaru, though...

Ah! This is the centre diff, or the flexing point halfway down the driveshaft? The noise is... indistinct. CV joints are new, put in last january. The sound doesn't change on cornering, either.
