We got back from Fraser Island on the weekend and rather than give you a long and boring run down on what went on I decided on taking the easy way out with a stack of pics.

White Liberty
Suspension:
3" BYB kit
Outback struts
Lift king springs
15x7 alloys
29 x 9.5/15 muddies.

Drive train:
2.5 Aus delivered block. Modded with the block being closed deck, diesel liners, Arias forgies, Ver.3 STi heads, cams, inlet, Microtech LT8s ECU. Then TD04, soon to be VF22.
4.111 JDM box (now broken 1st and 2nd)
LSD
3" mandrel

Dual batteries
UHF/GPS
other bits and pieces.

Brown Liberty

Suspension:
3" BYB kit
Outback struts
Lift king springs
15x7 alloys
Not sure on tyres then.

Drive train:
2.0 JDM RS turbo engine, Voss chip
4.111 JDM box (now broken 1st and 2nd)
LSD
3" mandrel

Dual batteries
UHF/GPS
other bits and pieces.

Both cars are pretty similar in specs. Just the body shape that is the big difference. It is a bloody good set up for any one contemplating building one. They go any where you point them, are reasonably quick and a whole lotta fun to drive.

hey brett, i currently have a gen 1 liberty wagon, it has been converted to EJ20T, TD05h, JDM 4.11 v2 sti gearbox,

i miss going offroad in my liberty, you say that your cars run jdm 4.11 ratio boxes, how do you find them offroad without low range? do you simply slip the clutch ?

i really want to set it up for offroading, am just undure how it will go without low range.

just do it naif

dont go crazy on tyre size and your gearing will be fine. You have to hit things a little quicker than everyone else to keep the revs up, but thats half the fun ;)

would it be possible, to transfer my wrx gearset into a duelrange case? and use the 4.111 final drive.

it would be possible to drop a 4.11 crown into a dual range case, you would leave the gearset as is though.

while your there you would fit a L series 1.5 low range

problem is your now back to a cable clutch, which will slip and a weaker gearset that will probably break

seriously if your keen on lifting - lift now and sort your gearbox out later if you find you need to. Brett has been running a single range box for ages now
