ready for an engine swap

Post by Green_eyed_liberty » Wed Feb 08, 2006 6:14 pm

hey again, i am getting pscy'd for my conversion as it should be getting closer..

hopefully its just a simple non-turbo to turbo in my 93 liberty wagon

just a few questains to help me plan my attack!

: i have been told that the subaru engine has to be droped out the bottom of the car is that true or could be just lifted out the top??

:when pulling the engine out can i leave the gearbox in the car or does it need to be pulled out with the engine??

:do i need to pull my dash out to feed the new harness in?

:is there anything that i should be careful of??

thanks in advance

lift the car off the engine is the easiest way to go.

your going to be swapping gearboxes surely, so leave the box attached to your old engine and do it all at once.

If your planning on swapping the entire lomn then the dash has to come out.

If you aren't able to lift the whole car off the motor and box together then, yes the motor can come out of the top with out the box attached. If you have a dual range box now and want to keep it in there, then this is the best way to do it.

Pull the dash out, front bumper and both front guards off. You will find it so much easier to work with.
