Dyno Tuning.

Post by BlackMale » Mon Feb 13, 2006 5:37 pm

Reason for this = I was thinking that it might be an idea to do a dyno run EA82T pre and post TMIC.

Therefore any of you know of a good dyno tuner in WA that will not cost the earth – IF there is such a thing.

I was out and about on Saturday and found a place near Osborne Park (purely by chance I was not even looking for it) - they had a WRX going through her passes on a bolt up dyno (you know the 4WD ones that do not operate on rollers) sounding great as well. The down side was approx $180 per hour – not bad but I am not chasing massive hp and could not justify the $$$$$ so even a roller dyno would probably suit me.

Thanks Crew

AKA a hub dyno.

Because you've got a selectable box in there you don't have to look at 4WD options. Someone like BRE or the like with a 2wd dyno will suffice (though not specifically BRE - they're a commonwhore bunch). That should save a lot of money to begin with.
If they ask, say its front wheel drive.

The best way to get a cheap Dyno run is wait till a club is doing a Dyno day and if you know someone or ask you may be able to get a run with tham and at only around $50

Thanks Tim i could not recall hub dyno and i did think about the 2wd option just not as accurate - but then i suppose as i said she is not going to be a track monster. SO, who are BRE? and any other suggestions?

Oh and Subi Wan i had though of that as well however will want post TMIC data after installation and it could be a wait for the next dyno day.

Were you wanting a tune or just a run to give you the stats??

Surely if it was only for the data then even at $180/hour you're not looking at a huge bill.

I wonder what actual tuning can take place on cars with a stock ECU in place. Just timing?
Surely the tune is set solid as factory... does anyone know?

OvaBoost performance! 2 / 7 Juna Drive Malaga WA 6090. Tel: 9249 7998. Cheapest by far and they know what they are on about. Unlike larger companies who know F%^ all who will remain UN named ;) as far as a tune goes I’m fairly sure there is nothing they can do unless you purchase say a safc then they can kind of play a little. But you are able to get a power run at a much cheaper cost.

Just for the sake of stealing jaffas topic. Anyone know any good cheap places to get an AWD dyno run. B4 is just rebuilt and almost run in, i'd just be interested to see what power its actually putting down cause im damm sure its pulling alot harder than it was before the rebuild and i havent taken it over 4000rpm yet.

well its got all new bearings so i dont really want to rev it to high. Will do about 800k's before i change to redline oil and then ill give it some gentle revs. I really think this engine puts itself under enough load around 2500-3000rpm up a steep hill in 3-4th gear. I know its not running full boost but its really pulling hard there and i think that will be more then enough to seat the rings properly.
