Rear window rubber 83 Coupe

Post by 85wrx » Wed Feb 18, 2009 1:23 pm

At the moment I am chasing a rear window rubber for a 1983 coupe (hardtop). I have exhausted all avenues to source one. Subaru Australia say that Subaru Japan are not making them anymore. Surely they must have one laying around over there. All the rubber places like scott's and spectrum do not make the rear rubbers.
Subaru part no. 765061040. This looks like it might be the show stopper for the build. Is there anyone that can help with my dilema.
Regards Darryl

Try this place, they are very resourceful. http://www.rarespares.net.au

I beleive Clark Rubber supply things like this too but not sure how good their range is.

Thanks for that. Tried both places with no luck. Phil's rotary seem to be getting into it but don't have one to suit unless the sedan is the same size which I doubt.

You know they might be the same size.

I have a sedan, do you want me to measure my rear windscreen?

I got one for my Leone Coupe 84 from the USA Subaru sight fitted perfect, but that was before Phil's Rotary where I got a front one so that would be your best bet.

Suparoo,

If you wouldn't mind measuring your rear window that would be great. I would say that the width would be the same!

Rabbitoh,

Do you have the contact or email address of where you got the seal in the states.

Hey Darryl, if you can't find one after all that searching, you can always gum it up with silastic... Or we could make a new one up for you...

If there is someone with MY sedan 80-83 that could measure there back window height at the ends and centre and the width. Still having trouble with sourcing this part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The other option that I have heard is a gemini coupe back window is the same size and profile as the subie coupe. Will need to measure one of these.

Sorry mate, its been a busy week

Top of glass, outer rubber edge to outer rubber edge = 1060mm

Bottom of glass , outer rubber edge to outer rubber edge = 1360mm

Top to bottom = 600mm

These are rough, but will give you an idea

If you want more precise measurements, just ask me where to measure

Thanks for that. I have just had a look at a picture of a sedans back window and they are a different shape. Alot sharper 90" bend in the bottom corners. Looks like I am back to square one.

Finally managed to get the rear windscreen rubber. For any other people that may need the same, Phil's rotary came through with the goods.

Thanks to all that help with the search.

Couped ...

Bit of a thread dig, but as some are still searching for a 'glass divider seal' for their hardtops, found these if they are any help :

From here : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Glass-Divide ... 463de8b609

They are closest I could find to match :

You would need to reuse the old holder ( item 2 ), cut-out / remove old the rubber & replace with new - someone willing to try it & see if it works ? ... :D

Cheers, Bantum ...
