Easiest L series Seat conversion?
Easiest L series Seat conversion?
Hi all
After some advice on the easiest non-standard seat to fit to a L series.
My drivers seat has seen better days. As I drive long distances and the ol' back isn't as supple as it used to be, am after something reasonably comfy and firm.
Not fussed on what its from make wise, just after an easy diy conversion ( & cheap!)
Let the bums speak.

Seats from an EJ based car (Liberty, WRX etc) require a fairly easy rail modification before they bolt in - this is the most common swap. I still havn't done it myself but I hear it's easy.

There's a couple of different ways to install them.
1. For new seats without height adjustment, you can just unbolt the rails from the L series seats and bolt them to the new seats. You might need to drill a couple of new holes in the seat base to suit the length of the different rails, but the width is fine.
2. If you want to keep height adjustment, you have to use the Lib rails with L series mounting points bolted/welded to them. This makes the seats very high.

3. Take the seat base frame out of the L series seats and transfer it to the new seats. They are exactly the same shape. You may want to keep the springs out of the newer seat bases.
