Brumby got a new mesh grill!

Post by Rocksy » Thu Sep 24, 2009 3:05 pm

I got bored yesterday and thought 'bugger it'. i didn't have a spare so there was no turning back. used a saw to cut the inner out, kept the fixtures by cutting the outside sections off with a hot knife. I also painted the white flat black behind the grill.

Came out quite well considering i had no plan and fading daylight.
I also made a computer chair out of my old brumby seat recently

Did something very similar with the L series the other day.

Nice - I like the seat idea... Its about all a brumby seat is good for right?

I like the grill, but am not a fan of the black bonnet look. That's just me though ;)

Cheers

the black bonnet is me seeing if i want a scoop on after the conversion. i'm seriously considering going back to stock bonnet, then going for the FMIC after the transplant.

EJ22 for the time being, it's going to be a streeter.
I'm considering a EJ25 from an STi, but it sounds like a little bit to much trouble with fitting everything in.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing but had second thoughts about it. I wasn't sure how it would turn out. Good work

Congratulations rocksy, you officially have one of the worlds most mental cats! Looks like a pretty cool fellow with loads of personality. He fully thinks he's a dog eh? Growl and all!

On topic, I reckon that brumby would look shmick painted all black with a scoop! Only go with the scoop if you go turbo though, having a scoop with no turbo sound is lame. I'm a bit partial to the look of the muscle bonnets that buldge, they look pretty mean. I also like the small intakes they put on the front of wrx bonnets a few years ago, early 2000s? You see it more in the wagons than the sedans...

Like the grill, any pics of the actual construction?

nah no pics of construction i got lost in the moment and didnt even think about it.

I agree about the scoop being lame without a turbo, but i needed to try and and see. It's out of my system now, only been on there about a month.

That cat scratching post thing is insane. I'd better not let the missus see that, she'll want to fork out for something like it for our cats.

Nice job with the grille. Looks a bit plain to me, though. Like it needs the badge in the middle or something. But nice job. :)

Next time i do it it'll be with a WRX seat and i'll make a metal cradle for the seat to be bolted onto, i rushed it with what i had because i broke the OG seat.
