6" Brumby Lift
6" Brumby Lift
Guys,
Theres a website here offering a 'Moster 6" Lift' for the Brumby...
http://www.funonwheels.net/hirisesubaru/pages/home.htm
Its cheap and the results look okay, does anyone know how hard this would be to install or does anyone know anything about lifting a Brumby by 6 inches?
Cheers

They havn't been in business making lift kits for many years now.
BYB might if you pay them enough but I know they don't like making kits that big anymore.

Fitting is very easy, no harder than any body lift kit.
I can speak from experience putting a 6" kit into my L wagon, the only real advantage is the ability to fit bigger tyres without cutting too much out of the car. The engine/gearbox still remains at the same level and looks pretty silly from the front, you can see the main engine pulley even. The only true lift you get is by putting bigger tyres on. Otherwise it's just the floor of the car that's higher up.
Best way to go to get a nice balanced offroading Brumby is 3", maybe 4 if you want to be abit more extreme.

Further to this....
You also end up with your original radius rods which are weak, with a 6" lift kit they will certainly fold and bugger up your control arms and CV joints when you drive up against a big enough rock.
If you are really serious about going down this road you'd have to think about custom fitting Liberty suspension etc which is very very custom and expensive.
But yeah, if you are that keen - here's one already done

thanks andrew,
okay you have talked me out of the 6inch lift for the brumby, im probably going to do a 3 or a 4 inch lift and stick some silly big tyres on it just for the look really, i dont do much offroad stuff, but the 6inch lifted brumby kinda looked tuff so i though it would be cool.
do you know where i could get a good 3 or 4 inch lift kit?
also i want to keep my rims as they are, theyre the four stud 14 inchers, whats the biggest tyres i can fit on them?
cheers mate

well you could try these guys - http://www.funonwheels.net/hirisesubaru/pages/home.htm not sure where they are in Australia though, but that brumby on the home page looks really tough with the 6" lift kit and the wheels.
that's the same link Dico first posted.
HiRise is no longer making lift kits.
