Rolling road, Dyno what ever you want to call it.
Has anyone ever made one? A friend and i have realised we have access to all the parts to make one (hydraulic one) and the ability to make one, even the coding to make a program to give us a nice pretty read out :P. Now just to do it, we are still looking to source 4 big rollers.
Any tips or suggestions?

you might not need big rollers if you make one which bolts to the hubs of the car instead. I think this would be more accurate too as there's no chance of any wheelspin or other movement in the tyres.

your probably right there andrew.
but ive never seen a problem with wheel spin so yeah.
problem with hubs is the need for interchangable hub adaptors
what imreally looking at building is a shock dyno

Yea the one we will be making will be rollers, and 2wd havnt even thought about the 4wd possibility.
That was our main thought into it, that if we do make one how do we calibrate it, so at first the idea is to make one that can be used to compare cars, then figure out how to calibrate it.
But at the moment its all in the planning stage we both wont be finished exams for another 3 or four weeks, then after that comes serious planning, and like my old metal work teacher use to say, measure 3 times cut once. In this case we only want to make one not three or four prototypes :P

doesnt need to be accurate, just needs to be consistent. dynos are variable between each other anyway. as long as you know if after some mods you have more or less power than you had before. rollers are just pipe, maybe 10 or 12 inch, cap them and put your drive on one end.
you can use a power/speed calculator to figure hp and torque.
