L series boss kit
L series boss kit
Arrghh...
Been stuffed around twice with trying to get a Boss kit for my car. Its an 86 touring wagon. Does anyone know the right code for the Autotecnica Boss kits. First one I got was 907. The splines seemed right, but didn't want to go on the steering shaft (couldn't even force it down). Second one I got was 908. I saw on the screen that for the 908 it was a Leone 1986 onwards, but the splines were completely different. Anyone help...tried looking for it on the web, but their website doesn't tell you anything.

Hiya guys.
I got a Autotechnica boss. Bought 4 x $2 small sanding drill bits from Bunnings and sanded/drilled down the boss.... Fits now. Took a while and broke a few sanding bits due to the heat but its worked.
I persevered because I was told that was the only one available for an L series.
I kept trying the wheel and kept grinding till I could fit the washer, lockwasher and the nut on. It aint gonna come off to easily now though.
Smokey.

fingers crossed it fits... just ordered one through my local repco store. cost $88. So they must still exist and make stuffThe saas kit came from Repco. I am unsure if Saas exist anymore Question The website has been down for sometime. It was a Saas # BK-177L. Maybe try Autobarn or something for it...

okay. i chased up the local distributor for autotechnica and got on the phone to em, turns out over here in WA they are also a performance joint who make custum everything for all sorts of cars... the problem with the 907 is more in the tapered surface before the spline, however we did modify the spline 2 a slightly larger size and then enlarge the tapered bit too. after these modifications (took all of 10 mins) she slid on nicely. all for a cost of SFA...
so in my opinion it is possible to modify the 907 2 fit, i suggest getting in touch with the local distributor and having a bit of a chat and seeing what they can arrange.

No luck with the Saas though Vidler? Your description of the Autotecnica issue sounds right - but really these things "off the shelf" shouldnt have these problems.
Just on a side note - I just replaced my Autotecnica wheel with a Momo one (from an early Legacy). So its official - the Saas boss can take Saas, Autotecnica, and Momo wheels.

Getting a saas
Thanks for the information. Been heaps busy and haven't even been able to go back and get my refund for 3 weeks. But got my money back from Supacheap, and went to Repco and ordered the Saas kit. Get confirmation tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

Saas kit availability
Spoke to Repco in Liverpool, NSW today.
He said it's on back order and won't be in until 3-4 weeks.
He can't order it in to the store unless he has a deposit, so I'm going in on Saturday and order it then ($89). Patiently waiting twiddling my thumbs. Thing is, I had a Liberty steering wheel which I could've used, and if I'd known the hassle, I would've taken that instead of the Momo wheel. Ah well... C'est la vie...
