rear step bar dismantle Brumby

Post by steptoe » Thu Sep 30, 2010 11:59 pm

Anyone dismantled or assembled a rear step bar tow bar combo on a Brumby?
I have looked at mine (and its collection of pideys) for a few times now and it seems to get simpler each time. I really only want to repaint the metal bar infills and they look to just be held in place like old bumpers - mushroom head bolts with square shaft and a nut behind.

There is some serious threaded rod disappearing through the chassis cover plates to the rear, maybe to cop impact?

If I recall, that was all that held mine on. The threaded rod connected to the chassis via some bolts. Few bolts to undo should be easy.

thanks, cannot understand why I did not see this in the first place, put it on the too hard for now spot on my fast diminishing list of things to do. Got some rusty spots that need to be dealt with, some balck paint will do the trick although I think they were originally powder coated or vynil coated they way the underside is peeling off.

Ticked off one on Friday that was over 20 years old !! Replaced brake hoses that were 42 years old :)

What you'll get out of all this is dependent on your own individuagameladen views of history and politics, but keep in mind it's hard togame laden find a truly great figure who is not controversial.
