Brumby SAS
Now I haven't been on here much lately, mostly because it reminds me of how slack I've been with my Brumby.
Anyway, I've spent way too much time researching mini truck shit for my mate and long story short its snow balled into me getting ideas to convert my Brumby to solid axle rear end with a 4 link and pan hard rod and do the front with a double wish bone and coil overs or solid axle with a ladder bar and pan hard.
My reasons are as follows:
1: I spend too much time getting paid out about how my Brumby will never be as good off road as I make out it will.
2: the caster angle in the front end now that I'm running L series lower control arms really annoys the s*#t out of me. (most of the reason I've been slack with working on my ute)
3: I cant run forester struts and 2" lift blocks as I get ball joint bind.
4: A solid axle swap will give me the articulation I desire.
5: A solid axle swap will be very different
6: I can buy lockers off the shelf for any of the diffs I have in mind
7: I can forget about breaking gearboxes and rear diff stub axles
8: I can use a divorced transfer case to get a real low range and RWD/4WD
9: I like to spend too much money on a brumby when I should just trade up to a Patrol/Cruiser/Jimney (something Coil and Solid axle)
10: I know that if I do trade up I still wont be happy because it wont be a Subaru...( I nearly bought a off road weapon of a zook before I bought this brumby)
Now I wont be deciding for sure if I'm going to do this until I speak to an engineer about it, being this is a uni-body it could make life difficult getting an engineer to pass off on it (especially in QLD the home of the vehicle mod NAZI's) so feel free to put up your ideas on how to do this, and feel free to post your opinion...

its been do done in america on an L series
But i think that was just the rear axel check the usmb for more info
I do love people doing weird things especially if they have the money and if theyre not idiots about how they go about it. If the uni body thing gets you what about putting the body on a hilux chassis or somthing

Here you go.

I'll put money on not being able to get it engineered in QLD without a chassis swap.
There was one built in Brisbane on a Hilux chassis. I last saw it advertised in the Trading Post.

Yea I know a chassis swap would be the way to go in QLD but I was hoping to avoid it because then it sort of goes too far from being a soob in my mind (I'm weird like that)
I've seen a few of the ones over in the states, those guys are lucky, they can get away with so much more
. I really need to talk to my Engineer before I make any decisions.
Here is a MB Sprinter that was build into a 4X4 monster I came across in my search for info on Google last night and its all off the uni body, Might still build it even if I cant register it, but cant really justify a trailer queen/conversation piece lol.

I'll let you guys know how I go after I speak to an engineer. And brumbyrunner I'm pretty sure your right.

I don't want it to be a Patrol, I want it to be a Brumby that is as good off road as any other modified 4WD, trust me if I wanted a patrol id buy one, I like to be different
