rear axles swap

Post by logonberry » Mon Jan 31, 2011 7:03 pm

I am trying to remove rear axles from my Brumby but they wont move. I followed gregorys instructions ( for what they are worth, I am not full of praise for gregories ) , I have driven out the retaining pins and released the trailing arm from the trailing link and now I should lower the trailing arm and "maneuver"
the axle shafts from the vehicle. Well it wont come off, wont budge ! Am I missing something? Has anyone got any ideas? Could it be seized to the spline or is there something else to release ?

No, there are no other retaining pins, just the one roll pin thru each end of the axle. I would say they are just stubborn. Try a bit of CRC or WD40 in the splines and give them a slight bit of encouragement, they should come. Be careful not to damage the soft outer skirt at the end of each axle.

1/ Get some sort of lever under the CV cup, not the flimsy dust cover , the cup, pivot it on one of the side cover bolt heads.
2/ Lean on it.
3/ Toast your success.
