Hi and welcome to AUSubaru!
If you are looking at more horsepower, you have 3 main options
1. Use your current engine (EA81) and whack a Weber carby on it and a free flowing exhaust. Expect around 80-85hp. Cheapest and easiest (will not need an engineers certificate for blue slip)
2. EJ20 or EJ22 conversion from an Impreza or Liberty. Will cost anywhere from $1000 up. Good power upgrade, roughly 120-135hp and upgraded brakes is recommended, but you may have issues with blue slip
3. EJ20 turbo from a WRX. Will be the fastest but will cost the most and really should be accompanied by gearbox and brake upgrades.
Have a play with the search function at the top of the forum, its been covered many times.
This is also a good read Fitting an EJ Motor into an MY or L Series Subaru
