I thought it would be worth putting up some pics of the brumby now before we start anything.

She is a bit rough but I still love the brumby

And after some work late this arvo, have the radiator out, bonnet off and the grille, headlights etc.

Will probably have a go at getting the engine out in the next couple of days, any last minute advice for a self admitted novice.

James, There's 4 bolts under the car holding it on the engine mounts, 4 holding it to the gearbox and 2 each side holding it to the exhaust headers. I would take lots of photo's and number all the hoses as you take it apart. It's relatively simple to get out, i used a crane on mine with a couple of slings but they say you can lift it out with 2 blokes. You'll need to slide it forward before you can lift it.

Did you buy Gary's EA81? Do you want your old engine? I kinda need one;)

Thanks 555Ron,

Managed to get the engine out today, actually used a chin up and boxing stand with a block and tackle...worked like a dream. And yes we have it all lined up for gary's engine to go in. Shouldn't need the old engine at all

Am now organising a car trailer and while we have it completely stripped taking it to a paint shop. fix up a couple spots of rust then going to get the gun metal grey paint job.

Once we get it back then the new engine, gearbox, exhaust, brake system and interior  sure am going to be busy

Image

The new seats we will be putting in with a bit of fiddling around with the rails etc...hoping they will be more comfortable for the long trips

Image

Painted the majority of the interior paneling today, pretty happy with the way they turned out. Some of the panels look brand new

New slotted cross drilled rotors for the front

Image

New Master cylinder to go in

Image

The rear drums (yes that is a terrible colour, I had some spare engine enamel I had lying around and thought I would give it a go) lucky you won't see them behind the sunny's

Image

Using sound deadner to improve the look of the wheel arches as well as a rust preventative

Image

interior with sound deadner, again trying to reduce road noise and avoid rust

just the 3M brand vinyl paints, they have come up alot better than I was expecting.

I have just painted the headliner and the panels above shoulder height in a buckskin colour (kind of beige like) and it looks great, I think the car will look nice a fresh when it is all together

Looking good James.

Pm me with your paint job cost if you can.

Maybe you should get your new engine rocker covers painted the same colour. ;)
Regards

Gary ;)

Cheers guys :) I am really happy with it, I bet the old man is keen to see it. I have not picked it up from the paint shop yet but it is actually supposed to be a metallic (although to me doesn't look it in photos). Also the side mirrors were done as well as the engine bay :)

We do have 14" brand new sunnies we were running before the rebuild just took them off for the painting and stripping process. I think they will look great with the new lick of paint.

For anyone that is interested the colour is actually off a Honda S2000 it is called moonrock grey.

Trying to introduce a really subtle theme of red to lighten it up a bit.

Gary I can't remember what colour the current covers are? I was thinking red to go in with the theme. (hopefully all going well we will be over to get that engine very soon :D)

Cheers again guys

Yeah, stick with the S2000 colours - nice touch. Se if you can match the horsies under the bonnet and that induction roar they were good for :-)
