Firefox does it automatically, pain in the arse I.E. arse comes up as not a word because if you right click over the word & it gives you the correct or American spelling or alternatives, so it's great if you are a shit speller but a pain if it's telling you to correct things like realise cheque etc.
Brumby Kid.............. all thing newish are not so bad, as far as tuning my Liberty goes in the 6yrs & 50 odd thousand K's since I did the conversion the only tuning I've done is replace one set of plugs & the original 120K old leads & the only reason I did that was because I was getting a new clutch fitted & figured I'd give it a bit of a birthday, no points, no carby to bugger up if the car is on a steep hill and when you get to 169 kph in 13 seconds you appreciate that little computer that's doing all the work adjusting your timing injectors etc, I've had 735KL on a country run averaging about 130 with just under 3L left in the tank and usually get around 580 out of a 60L tank in the city, I don't miss changing the points & plugs in my Landcruiser every few months or filling the 2 LPG tanks (145L) every 700K's either.

the momentary push button is really simple.
push the button, liike toonga said a lot earlier, starter stays on untill the relay gets a signal that the engine has started in which point it returns. in the case on my rex, it got the signal from the alternator to tell the relay when the engine was running
i bought an aftermarket alarm a while back and put it on my wrx, had remote start.
i couldnt work out how it worked untill i put it in.
very very cool unit though, pressing start when somebody was still in the car and watching their face was the most sensational feeling as the car starts with nobody in the drivers seat
as for the prado, u can turn it off in park or neautral, i work with all these new 4x4's everyday and also have 2 in my driveway with the push button system. ive never ever had a problem with them.
that said, once the car has started with the key in range, the car will drive forever untill its turned off, which can potentialy be a problem.
what if u start it, go to the shops, quickly pop into grab something and leave it running (like i occasionally do) and somebody takes off in the car.....u will mosdt likely find it burnt to the ground, caus the beeeping the car makes with the key otu of range will drive them mad LOL

why should be Americanized? we are in Australia? (do admit to the capitalisation)
if you don't like $800 or so I believe it costs more than that for a commodore set. it cost me $120 just to get the VR one copied.
and if you are really unhappy, try a Ferrari, lose the keys on that and they airfreight the whole car back to the factory to be fitted with new keys. and everyone else probably pays for it with their insurance.

spell check ? who has got spell check in here ?
Our English language continues to evolve, sometimes before our eyes much to the disgust of some who think it should not change, some those that forget it evolved to this day .....
Not many dissys around to offer feedback now, you mean coil ?

Just right click on the word you know is correctly spelt, then "add to dictionary" & it'll never highlight it again

Yes the "English" language does evolve...much like this thread

Like wise fuel economy has improved in the older vehicle too - this is due to better roads that are straighter and have a more constant gradient. Dual carriage ways such as freeways have also helped to improve economy by removing the need to accelerate hard to overtake - now you do it at cruise speed as you move into the over taking laneOKsubaru wrote:fuel economy is something that has not improved markedly over 25 years we are just offered more in heavier units, not always bigger though. Look at the old EA81/ EA82 that we can get 9 to 10 l per 100km out of 1800cc in a 1000 - 1100 kg body. We have bigger, faster, more powerful drivetrains with similar fuel sipping don't we?

I agree with this tony. Things have changed, the oil companies have free reign as the ACCC "watch dog" is pretty much powerless since the government de-regulated the oil industry. We now follow the singapore index I think - something that can be easily manipulated by the major companies without the ACCC or Australian Government being able to do anything. The government also has a vested interest in a higher fuel price at the bowser - a higher fuel price means more tax, there's about ~55cpl in fuel excise then the 10% GST. So a higher fuel price = higher tax paid through the GST percentage!tony wrote: as for fuel economy has anyone else noticed that although the cost of oil has gone down from around $110 to around $85 the cost of petrol at the bowser has actually gone up? the old standard was that petrol price rose and fell about 1 cent for each dollar the price of the barrel moved, and that was when the aussie battler was at 95 cents, so by rights the price of petrol at the bowser should be around 25c or maybe a bit more lower, i bet when the oil price goes up bowser prices will follow immediately.
I was talking with an old friend that told me the price of fuel only ever used to go up with the capital index each year - no fluctuations like we have now. I do remember when petrol - the good old "super" - used to be 52 cpl for ages, I also remember begging dad to get me some fuel for the paddock bomb when it was 69.9cpl - but apparently it was too expensive! That price never changed until the de-regulation, after this it climbed up to a dollar VERY quickly!
And Disco, i totally agree with what you're saying. I also think that these "safety" systems are dumbing down drivers and that they can give a false sense of security for those who push the limits illegally or not.
Cheers
