To be shiny like you're other red brumby? What is it with you and red brumbies??
alang wrote:now your getting the rest of us thinking :D is their a posting on here for doing this conversion sounds good the ea81 in the brumby sounds good just got it going again after 2 years sitting no smoke out the back. then again the mate just gave me a ej22 motor block no heads
You can read about my gearbox build in Ruby Scoo, it's basically the same, just the other way around. Mine was EJ casings with EA5spd internals. You can do EA5spd (L series gearbox) casings with EJ internals as well - but you have to build up a dedent ball to hold high/low range where it needs to be.

There's also a super old thread about this theory that I started many moons ago! here it is back when I was a noob. These day's I'd just build the box and be done with it! I'd just need to learn how to do the diff adjustments properly and I'd be set I reckon.

Cheers

over the weekend I fitted front exhaust from an l series with catalic converter, cause it had no cat fitted.
Removed oil filter and fitted another which I had "prepared earlier"fitted new o rings and gasket.
Oil pump is easy to do with radaitor removed
Flushed the coolant system and filled with fresh coolant.
Removed the long thermostat housing and hose and fitted a STD housing and hose so i can use the long housing and hose on B1

Took her for a 20km drive at 110kmh and no oil leaks from pump, a bit still weaping from the sump gasket though.

spot on Alan.
Bennie, yer Mate I took it from a spare rack I had.
It drives fine now, must have been a tyre issue. This brumby is now fitted with the wheels and tyres from B1 as i had a fresh set of wheels and tyres in the shed just busting to go on B1.

Listed it on Gumtree less than 1hr later, Some bloke spotted it and wanted it so he bought it. It will spend some time out Taylors Arm way now, no doubt a long time.
