i did 1 side at a time and the car is stock as a rock (no lift kit yet) the ride hight changed about 1/2inch which is expected with new shocks i installed brand new gabriel shocks / struts with adjustable ride height. ride height is wound all the way down ( lowest posistion )

Did you do the strut change at one go or one wheel a time? The hats could be in wrong position as it needs to be lined up.

struts were done one at a time so sides can not be mixed up thats what has me stumped . can the mounting plate with the 3 blots on top of the strut be installed wrong? are there any markings on these to check if installed correctly?

They're called Strut Hats. Yes they do need to be installed in correct way/lined up. There is often a single hole or a slot marker on the top that needs to line up to the bottom of the strut.

I know MY factory strut tops are marked with arrows to be pointed forward for different applications such as FWD one way 4WD the other ...did you compare the dimensions from in going to outgoing struts ?

ok i found the marks on the strut top hat there are 2 dimples in the rubber part which line up with the 2 holes drilled in the top of the strut tower. i also replaced the balljoints but still have a slight clunk sound when going up a 45deg gutter. i am now also noticing a chatter sound when doing 90 - 95 kms/hr with a light tug on the steering wheel at 100k + the chatter seems to disapeer or less than 90k/hr it is not there any suggestions to what the issue might be all help and pointers will be greatly appreciated thank you
